In the following days, the Fuller family felt as though they'd jumped from the frying pan into the fire. Besieged and overwhelmed by misery, they faced unprecedented challenges. Their involvement in a murder case devastated Dexter's business, causing its market value and stock to plummet. Within months, they filed for bankruptcy protection, unable to withstand the mounting pressure.

Unfortunately, their application was rejected, forcing the company into liquidation. One project after another failed, leaving insufficient funds to cover debtsโ€”bank loans, contract breach penalties, and substantial unpaid employee wages. Despite Dexter's tireless efforts, he found no support; old friends avoided him, and business partners eagerly seized the family's assets.

To compound their woes, the mapโ€”their only hopeโ€”was lost. After months of torment, the Fuller couple was drained and disheveled. They declared bankruptcy; even their villa was confiscated to settle debts. Dexter's earlier jest about sleeping on the streets had tragically become reality.

A gloomy afternoon marked their eviction. All valuable possessions were considered part of the debt repayment and could not be taken. They were permitted to pack only personal belongings. Though prepared, the forced removal from their twenty-year home hit hard. Myra tried to remain composed, but her eyes welled up as she turned away. This place was no longer their home.

Dexter consoled her, saying, "It's okay. I'll make a comeback. It won't take long. I'll definitely buy our home back!" Myra nodded. Their cars were also seized. The once-prominent couple hailed a cab to their new residenceโ€”Myra's only remaining property, a little-used apartment in the city center.

Fayla was astonished upon entering. "It's so small! How are we supposed to live here?" The apartment wasn't small, but felt cramped after their previous lifestyle. The transition from affluence to frugality proved difficult, even for Myra. However, there was no alternative. The Fuller family endured severe hardship, the cold indifference of others leaving them isolated and helpless.

With a sigh, Myra said, "At least Sebastian is abroad. His little company seems to be doing alright. It's our fallback. At worst, we won't starve." Dexter remained silent. He and Sebastian had a major falling-out when Sebastian left to start his own business. Dexter was furious then, but now he might rely on his son for support, a blow to his pride.

Kayla, however, was most affected. She never imagined their bankruptcy and eviction. She muttered, "If I'd known, we should've kept that map. At least we could've sold it for some moneyโ€ฆ" Hearing this, Dexter and Myra exchanged weary smiles.
