Chapter 45

The detailed information gathered about Felicia indicated the instigator possessed an extraordinary background. Using this information for blackmail clearly demonstrated malicious intent.

Felicia, recently reinstated as the Fuller family's true heiress, had transformed from a girl from a poor neighborhood into a wealthy family's daughter. Jealousy was inevitable. Kayla's numerous supporters would likely go to great lengths to bully and isolate Felicia. The situation could escalate rapidly. Prolonged harassment could severely impact a victim's mental health, potentially leading to plummeting grades and extreme measures.

Dexter mused, "Could it be Melvin?" Given Melvin's previous kidnapping attempt, he was a prime suspect, particularly given the Chavez family's influence.

Kayla sighed, replying innocently, "Maybe."

Myra started to pound the table, but Felicia calmly interrupted, "It's not him."

"Why are you so sure?" Myra asked, confused. "Felicia, do you know who's behind this?"

Felicia nodded, naming Arnold. Myra and Dexter exchanged shocked glances. Matthew's recent public proposal of a union between Felicia and Arnold at the banquet had been deferred due to concerns for Kayla. Now, there was no reason to consent. A forced marriage was undesirable. Arnold clearly harbored feelings for someone else; otherwise, he wouldn't have resorted to such tactics.

Dexter, with pride, declared, "I will refuse that proposal from Mr. Lawson Senior. I will never agree to this marriage."

Myra agreed. "Rather than forcing a mismatched union, it's better to support Kayla and Arnold. They appear to be a couple in everyone's eyes."

Kayla's heart leaped. Her accidental remarks had inadvertently strengthened Myra and Dexter's resolve to prevent Felicia's marriage to Arnold. Arnold was still hers. This was a blessing in disguise.

For the first time, Felicia found Myra and Dexter's words pleasant. As long as they refused the marriage, whoever wanted the engagement could have it.

Under Myra's supervision, Kayla reluctantly documented the group chat's insults directed at Felicia. Dexter sent this information to Blake. Most involved were Khogend College freshmen. Secretly slandering a classmate in such a malicious manner was disgraceful. Given Felicia's status as a prized student in Blake's eyes, strict action was guaranteed.

Still uneasy, Myra said, "Felicia, when school starts, I'll have Eugene pick you up and drop you off every day."

"I choose to stay in the dormitory," Felicia replied, a decision she'd already made.

Myra's concern was palpable. Dormitory life wasn't as comfortable as home, and she worried about Felicia's well-being.
