Chapter 451
After completing her tasks, Myra turned toward the door. Felicia quickly ducked down. She wasn't sure why she felt compelled to hide. Perhaps she didn't want to witness the couple's distress. Or maybe something else weighed heavily on her heart, evoking memories from her past.
In her unhappy childhood, she often huddled in a corner after being beaten by her adoptive parents. She had endlessly imagined her biological parents, picturing them as a loving, supportive couple. If she hadn't been switched at birth, she would have grown up in a loving family. And her parents were, indeed, in love, just as she had imagined. Yet, they weren't the parents she envisioned.
Felicia crouched in the corner for a long time. Kerry happened to pass by and was startled. "Ms. Fuller, are youโฆ crying?"
Crying? Felicia snapped out of her reverie and instinctively touched her face, but found no tears.
Kerry blinked innocently and chuckled. "Maybe I was mistaken."
Felicia offered a wry smile. "Playing tricks on your employer? Say goodbye to your bonus this month."
"What? No, Ms. Fuller! I'm sorryโฆ" Kerry trailed after her, apologizing profusely.
Felicia finally relented, sighing. "If you don't want your bonus cut, then stay outside and ensure no one enters."
"Got it!" Kerry grinned, her already pretty face brightening with glee.
Felicia entered the room.
The moment Myra saw her, it was as if she'd seen a ghost. Her expression shifted to alarm and defensiveness. "What are you doing here? Where's the physician?"
Felicia ignored her, stepping forward to check Dexter's pulse. His injuries weren't severe, and his organs were healthy. After a few weeks' rest, his physical recovery was good. However, the head trauma, coupled with emotional distress, had left him mentally scarred.
Had something happened that night to further traumatize Dexter?
Felicia couldn't determine the cause, nor did she wish to speculate. Regardless, Dexter was her patient, and it was her responsibility to treat him to the best of her ability.
Felicia produced a set of needles, gleaming in the sunlight. Before she could begin, Myra grabbed her arm. "What are you trying to do? Can't you see how badly hurt your father is? How dare you act recklessly?"
Myra was agitated. Weeks of exhaustion had depleted her patience, and Felicia's perceived coldness and ingratitude only fueled her anger.
"Where's the medical master? Doesn't the Miracle Healer work here? Get them! I only want them!" Myra shouted, shoving Felicia toward the door.
Kerry immediately rushed into the room. Seeing Felicia being pushed, she exclaimed sharply, "Mrs. Fuller, let go of her if you want your husband to recover! The medical master you're shouting for is standing right in front of you!"
Kerry was furious. She didn't know the full details of the Fuller family drama, but had heard whispers. The couple seeking treatment were once Khogend's wealthiest residents, and they were Felicia's parents!
Kerry had already gone above and beyond for the couple before Felicia's arrival. But this wasn't a mother-daughter reunion; it was more like a confrontation between enemies.
