Chapter 462
Turning in bed for half an hour, she finally got dressed and went to the rooftop terrace to enjoy the night. The patio had been significantly improved; the layout and decorations invested with considerable effort. During the design phase, moving in, it had become less of a favorite space. However, the summer was approaching. The temperature was just right; the evening breeze gentle.
Telicia lounged comfortably on a recliner, gazing at the crescent moon hanging like a silver sickle in the night sky. Her heart was calm, yet she felt an unprecedented sense of loneliness. Initially, it was merely a faint emptiness, but as time passed, the feeling intensified, spreading throughout her body. She missed having someone to share the moonlight with. Only Carmen, her best friend, remained absent.
Telicia sighed softly and closed her eyes. The night was silent, all sounds fading into stillness. She lay there for a long time until drowsiness washed over her. Curling up on the recliner, she decided to spend the night there.
But as she drifted toward sleep, a faint, distant bell reached her ears. The sound was ancient and mysterious, like a chant from a faraway land, layered, sometimes near, sometimes distant. Felicia felt as though her consciousness had lifted from her body. All she could perceive was the haunting chime, captivating her soul.
Something was wrong! Where was the sound coming from? Felicia tried to open her eyes, but she couldn't control her body! She bit down hard on her tongue. The metallic taste of blood filled her mouth, and her body felt lighter. She snapped her eyes open to find herself standing in the middle of the road!
What was going on? Wasn't she asleep on her rooftop terrace? Instantly, every hair on Felicia's body stood on end. Inexplicable fear and confusion surged through her mind, quickening her breath. But she forced herself to calm down. Her gaze sharpened as she scanned her surroundings.
The neon lights still dazzled; the wide, four-lane road was sparsely trafficked, feeling deserted at this late hour. On the other side, the pedestrian crossing light changed from red to green, the timer counting down. But it was too late; there were no pedestrians. Everything appeared normal.
Felicia looked down. She was in her pajamas, standing on the roadside. Thankfully, she had woken up in time; otherwise, she might have walked straight into traffic. Was she sleepwalking? Had she unknowingly left her home and wandered onto the road?
Felicia stood silently for a moment. Turning, she saw Stephan a short distance away. He seemed to have just exited his car; the engine was still warm, the headlights illuminating floating dust. As he walked toward her, his movement stirred a slight breeze, scattering the dust like snowflakes.
Stephan looked her up and down, clicking his tongue. His expression showed utter bewilderment. It wasn't surprising; seeing someone in pajamas at an intersection in the middle of the night was bound to raise eyebrows.
She didn't know what to say, still trying to understand her own situation, let alone explain it to him. Then, she felt something heavy on her shoulders—Stephan's coat. He had draped it over her, readjusting it to warmly envelop her.
