Listen to this chapter:

It turned out Dexter had stolen the map from Stephan's subordinate under peculiar circumstances. When Felicia learned of this, she kindly warned the Fuller couple to return the map immediately, believing this might avert their bankruptcy.

But instead of complying, the Fuller couple played a reckless game, feigning ignorance and sending a forged map to an auction house, hoping to confuse Stephan and escape unscathed. Their clumsy ruse, however, only served to portray them as fools in Stephan's eyes. The auctioned map was a fake, resulting in a spectacular failure. Not only did they fail to deceive anyone, but they also became targets for all parties interested in the map. The situation spiraled into a disaster; various factions now believed the Fullers still possessed the real map, their every move scrutinized.

Felicia turned to Stephan and asked, "Have you found the real map?"

"No," he replied calmly, though Felicia sensed underlying menace. "Then how do I know if the location is accurate? It could be a mistake, or worse, a trap. That's why I need to investigate. Nobody else can learn the contents of that map."

"What is it?" Felicia quickly added, "You don't have toโ€”" fearing sheโ€™d asked too much. She wanted to avoid suspicion; the rumored treasure was too tempting.

Before she could say more, Stephan lightly bit her lip. Chuckling, he said, "With you, I have no secrets. I'll tell you anything."

"Oh, go ahead, then," Felicia said, feigning interest. She wasn't after the treasure; she was simply curious.

Stephan began, recounting a tale of a sailor shipwrecked on a remote island, discovering an isolated kingdom brimming with untold riches. After recovering, the sailor, despite a vow of secrecy, secretly recorded the island's coordinates. These coordinates were leaked, sparking countless expeditions, all ending in failure or death.

The map, with its astral coordinates, remained. Stephan tapped Felicia's forehead, smiling, and asked, "What do you think?"

Leaning forward, Felicia replied, "It's a great bedtime story. I'll remember it and tell it to my daughter someday."

It was a casual remark, a lighthearted joke. Yet, the room fell silent. Felicia looked up to find herself under Stephan's intense gaze, his eyes like bottomless abysses, flickering with unspoken emotions.
