Listen to this chapter:

Imogen slapped a hand over her mouth and shook her head. "I said I won't let Felicia marry into the family. I won't allow it..."

Johanna could barely contain her frustration. However, her schemes hadn't been in vain; Felicia and Imogen's relationship had turned hostile. They couldn't reconcile, especially with Archie's death still looming. Stephan was now caught in a dilemma: his sister or his lover? Whichever side he chose, the other would be abandoned. Felicia was bound to be the sacrifice. When that time came, eliminating Felicia and her family would be far easier. Johanna smirked at the thought. She softened her tone to comfort Imogen. "Imogen, don't cry. I didn't mean to pressure you. Believe me, no one feels your pain more than I do. But as for Stephanโ€ฆ"

Before Johanna could finish, a maid rushed in. "There's been an incident, Ms. Russell!"

"What incident?" Imogen's heart sank.

"It's Mr. Russell! He's gone missing. They say he's injured and his whereabouts are unknown!" the maid shouted.

"What?" The news hit Imogen hard. Her vision blurred, and she nearly fainted. The maid hurried to support her, cursing herself for the abrupt delivery of the news. If anything happened to Imogen, she would bear the blame.

Imogen clung to the maid's sleeve desperately. "Explain! What happened?"

The maid revealed everything. "Ten days ago, Mr. Russell led a team to a remote rainforest. However, only one member managed to send a message back. He said Mr. Russell is injured and now missing!"

Injuries and disappearancesโ€ฆ These words only brought bad luck. Imogen's heart went cold. All her anger and resentment were replaced by overwhelming guilt and worry. The thought of Stephan potentially in danger while she berated him sent waves of regret crashing over her. She had even threatened to sever their sibling bond, oblivious to the risks he faced.

Imogen pushed the maid away. "Have you sent anyone to search for him? Do it now!"

"Don't worry, Ms. Russell. We've deployed search teams. We'll find Mr. Russell. I promise!"

But no reassurance could quell her anxiety. "I'm such a useless sisterโ€ฆ" Tears streamed down Imogen's face as dark thoughts crowded her mind. She felt lost. The last time she had felt this way was when she learned of Archie's death. Then, Stephan had immediately arranged search teams. This time, Stephan himself was missing.

With no one else to lean on, Imogen realized how much she had depended on her brother's unwavering support. She had taken for granted her carefree life and sense of superiority as his sister. How could she have been so ignorant?

Imogen took a deep breath. "Prepare a plane. I'm going there myself!"
