Scarlet and Felicia were alone at the back of the helicopter. Felicia's sudden attack was swift and ferocious. Scarlet, caught off guard, received a hard headbutt that left her ears ringing. She had to defend herself. "I was unprepared," Scarlet said. "That's the only reason you got the jump on me. Otherwise, with my skills, you wouldn't have stood a chance—ow." She winced, touching a bruise on her mouth.
Felicia silently thanked her restraints; her hands were tied behind her back. It wouldn't have been a simple sneak attack if she'd been free to grab a knife. "What happened after that?" she asked.
"Well, I knocked you out, of course," Scarlet shrugged innocently. "Don't blame me, boss. You can't cut my pay for this."
Felicia was speechless. The pounding headache she woke up with was thanks to Scarlet. Scarlet planted her hands on her hips and complained, "You said to take you to a—" She pointed toward the hallway. "—then I figured you’d wake up soon, but those old men outside kept checking your pulse and couldn't figure out why you were unconscious. How useless!"
"How long was I out?" Felicia asked, guessing it couldn't have been more than a day. Scarlet's reply stunned her. "Three days! Seventy-six hours!"
"Impossible!" Felicia grabbed her phone and checked the date. It had indeed been three days since she lost consciousness. Something didn't add up; she recalled briefly waking up before blacking out again.
Scarlet noticed her confusion. "Oh, right. One of those old men suggested acupuncture. But before they started, you woke up. I figured you might go berserk again, so I… I punched you out. To be safe."
Felicia's eyes widened. She could have woken up a day earlier! No wonder her neck was sore.
Felicia rolled her eyes. "Be honest. Are you sure you're not working for one of my enemies?"
Scarlet burst into laughter. Pinching Felicia's cheek, she teased, "You're adorable. You'll believe anything I say, won't you? Haha!" Felicia groaned and ignored her.
Just then, Kerry peeked into the room. Squealing with excitement, he leaped in, the curtain fluttering behind him. "Boss! You're finally awake! I was scared to death! Caesar and the others had no idea what to do. They said the only option was to wait for you to wake up. They even warned us that the worst-case scenario was you never waking up… Thank goodness you're okay!"
Felicia smiled. "I'm fine now. But I'm starving. Could you get me something to eat?"
"Of course, boss! I'll go right now!" Kerry dashed out. He soon returned with a steaming bowl of stew from the shop next door, a favorite of Felicia's. It was rich and delicious, and she felt better after eating.
She instructed Kerry, "Get me the medicine kit. And bring me a small knife."
"Right away, boss!" Kerry nodded.
