Listen to this chapter:

The black-robed man was alone, and Felicia, armed with a gun, didn't think capturing him would be too difficult. Scarlet cautioned, "Be careful!"

Felicia nodded and slowly repositioned herself for an ambush. However, the robed man exited the shelter, still looking frantic. She was about to move when she overheard him on the phone, loudly cursing, "I can't talk properly right now! I'm about to go crazy! Pete, you'd better give me an explanation!"

Hearing the name Pete, Felicia faltered, quietly hiding in the darkness. This robed figure was connected to Pete somehow. Were they collaborators or allies? She continued to listen.

The robed figure was clearly losing control. He shouted, "It wasn't that they escaped. They were escorted! When I got back, the lock had been pried open and the women were gone! They even left a note! Do you know what it says? Do you?" He held up the note, then angrily tossed it away.

The paper fluttered, landing face up. In the dim moonlight, Felicia recognized her own neat handwriting: "Sorry, but we needed the people. I just want to say hello. Next time, we’ll be taking down your headquarters.” It was audacious and bold.

The robed figure, clearly provoked, shouted, "Pete, my plan must go ahead of schedule! If you can't keep up, our operation ends here!" He ended the call.

Felicia lunged forward. She was about to attack when he rolled, dodging her ambush without looking! It was as if he had eyes in the back of his head. Scarlet, seeing this, dashed from another direction to intercept him.

The robed figure hesitated, but instead of confronting Scarlet, he turned his attention back to Felicia, his gaze intense. Completely covered, even his eyes were hidden in shadow. Felicia couldn't see his face clearly, but she felt his predatory gaze, like a wolf pack eyeing its prey. His unabashed demeanor was repulsive and unsettling.

A cold sensation washed over Felicia. She felt the urge to gouge his eyes out. Furious, she raised her gun and coldly asked, "What are you looking at?"

Instead of panicking, the robed man laughed—a hoarse, unsettling laugh, rough and unpleasant, tinged with madness. It was eerie.

Scarlet gripped her weapon, warning, "I suggest you surrender. Hurry up and do it, or I'll shoot—"

The robed man ignored Scarlet, his eyes fixed on Felicia. Felicia was sure that if she pulled his hood off, his eyes would glow with a sinister, predatory gleam. Without hesitation, Felicia fired, aiming for his leg.
