Listen to this chapter:

Felicia had never known a happy childhood and didn't understand what happiness truly meant for a child. Sometimes, she imagined showering her own child with all the love she possessed. She would dedicate herself entirely to her child's well-being. But nowโ€ฆ

She greeted Imogen casually, exchanged a few words, and then followed her into the dining hall. Meanwhile, Stephan was playing with his little nephew, Caleb. A playful snap of his fingers and a light tap on Caleb's cheek sent the boy into fits of uncontrollable laughter. His laughter was bright and innocent; his chubby cheeks made him utterly adorable.

Imogen watched the scene, about to speak when Stephan announced, "Imogen, I'm planning a wedding."

"Great," Imogen replied instantly. Glancing at the dining hall, she judged the distance. Felicia wouldn't overhear them from here. "Have you discussed this with Felicia, or are you planning a surprise?"

Stephan raised an eyebrow. He'd never considered a surprise wedding. Naturally, everything would be according to the bride's wishes.

Imogen sighed softly. "Ah, speaking of weddingsโ€ฆ mineโ€ฆ well, it didn't even reach the endโ€ฆ"

She hadn't intended to say so much, but the words escaped. She stopped abruptly, her expression clouding with bitterness. She'd once believed she and Archie were deeply in love, ready to spend their lives together. She had been so sure, so certain, she'd never doubted him.

But who could have imagined that the man who sweetly called her "darling" daily was calling her an old hag behind her back? She'd been blind. Archie and Johanna likely took advantage of her blindness, openly conducting their affair right before her eyes.

"Let's not discuss this upsetting topic," Imogen said sharply, gently smoothing Caleb's face. Turning to Stephan, she added, "I don't ask for much anymore. As long as you and Felicia are happy, that's enough for me."

"Plan the wedding carefully. Regarding the guest list, I can help you decide who to invite. Just let me know if you need anything; otherwise, I won't interfere." Imogen smiled and gave Stephan a gentle nudge. "Go eat already. Don't keep Felicia waiting on an empty stomach."

Stephan thought his carefree girlfriend wouldn't let herself go hungry waiting for him. Sure enough, when he entered the dining hall, Felicia was happily eating, not even glancing his way.

The next day, on the eve of Felicia's planned return to Khogend, she received a call from Jennifer, recently rescued. Jennifer wanted to treat Felicia to a meal before leaving Seidvale, to thank her in person. Felicia actually liked Jennifer quite a bit. The young woman was sweet, pretty, and kind-hearted.

In fact, when they first met, Felicia had almost accidentally hurt her. Because of this, Felicia felt a lingering sense of responsibility toward Jennifer. It was also why Felicia had gone to such lengths to save her upon learning of her kidnapping.

Now that Jennifer was safe and the other young women were gradually returning home, Felicia decided to decline Jennifer's invitation. She didn't want to risk causing Jennifer any trouble by her presence.

Jennifer sounded disappointed, her tone dropping as she asked, "Felicia, can I still keep in touch with you in the future?"

The moment Felicia agreed, Jennifer's excitement mirrored that of a fan meeting a favorite celebrity. Her enthusiasm sparked Clark's jealousy. He muttered something under his breath, picked up by the phone: "I'm glad it's another woman."
