Chapter 86
The man on the bed had an enormously swollen stomach, resembling a pregnant woman's. Felicia found him almost fictional. She restrained her reaction, but the other physicians and assistants erupted in laughter. The man, furious, yelled, "Hey! Do you have any medical ethics? Stop laughing!"
Their laughter only intensified. "Sorry! We can't help it!"
Clive scolded them, "What's so funny? Be serious!"
The man's frustration mounted. He could only endure it.
Clive turned to Felicia. "Licia, check his pulse."
"Okay," Felicia replied, approaching the bed. The man, distrustful of her youth, refused to cooperate.
Ignoring him, Felicia took his pulse. It was unlike anything she'd encountered, yet familiar from an ancient medical text. This was negative energy invading his body.
Clive was stunned by her diagnosis. "Are you sure?"
"Positive!" Felicia nodded, producing a silver needle. Beginning acupuncture, she explained, "Acupuncture alone won't suffice. We need to draw blood."
She flicked the needle, then quickly incised his finger. "Hey, are you sure this will work?" he asked doubtfully.
Clive watched, intrigued. "The blood's black..."
As the dark blood flowed, the man's swollen belly shrank, accompanied by a series of loud, embarrassing farts.
Felicia had distanced herself, but Clive and the observing physicians were directly affected. Speechless, they recoiled from the overpowering, pungent stench.
The man, red-faced beneath his mask, was mortified. Felicia left, telling Clive, "Grandpa, you can administer the acupuncture. I'll wait outside."
She departed. Clive grumbled, requesting a mask from an assistant before addressing the other physicians. "Go ahead. I'll supervise."
"Mr. Walsh Senior, you should do it. You're the expert."
Usually eager to display their skills, they were now hesitant. Overwhelmed by the stench, Clive berated the assistants for lacking gas masks, though they hadn't anticipated this. He reluctantly stepped forward.
In the corridor, Felicia smelled the lingering odor. She walked until she reached the end, where another presidential suite stood, oddly dark. The surrounding area was eerily quiet and dark.
