Listen to this chapter:

That night, Felicia found herself in a difficult situation. She was about to leave despite Roberta's desperate pleas, but ultimately gritted her teeth and rescued her.

Roberta wiped away a tear. "Aunt Felicia, I regret two things most in my life. Leaving you and fleeing alone, and returning to the Walsh family." Felicia listened silently, her expression unreadable, before simply saying Roberta's name.

"Yes, Aunt Felicia."

Felicia wanted to point out Roberta's planned betrayal, but refrained. Instead, she asked, "Do you know why I rescued you then?"

"No," Roberta replied, pausing thoughtfully. "Was it because you pitied me?"

"No," Felicia said flatly. "Because I saw myself in you, back then." She referred to her past life, a life marred by despair and mental breakdowns after imprisonment. Oppressed by those in power, despised and slandered by her family, and abandoned by the world, she suffered permanent injuries and ultimately lost her life. She had never harmed anyone. That night, she saw a reflection of her past suffering in Roberta's despairing eyes.

That's why she'd saved Roberta, despite the danger; saving Roberta felt like saving a part of herself.

Roberta paused, then picked up her orange juice. "Aunt Felicia, I apologize. I'm sorry for leaving you. I'll make it up to you… with this." Meeting Roberta's docile gaze, Felicia raised her glass. The rich scent of fruit filled the air. Had her drink not been poisoned, she might have found Roberta's gesture sincere. But Roberta’s apology was merely a prelude to poisoning her.

Felicia remained calm. "Roberta, your juice doesn't look as good as mine. Want to trade?" It was her last chance to deter Roberta.

Roberta paused, but showed no sign of stopping. She raised her glass, smiling. "To you, Aunt Felicia." She drank it quickly.

Felicia concluded Roberta was beyond redemption. She shook her head and poured her drink onto the ground, preparing to leave.

Then, she heard a thud behind her. "What is it now?"

Roberta lay lifeless on the floor, blood flowing from her eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. Felicia was shocked and bewildered.

A puppy coincidentally licked the spilled orange juice. Even after consuming most of it, the puppy remained unharmed. Felicia's drink had been untouched; the poison was in Roberta's glass.
