Chapter 100
Amy had never seen Chris so furious, not even during the Clyde Group debacle that cost the company billions. She called out, "Mr. Jovian."
Chris snapped, "Amy Lee, is it? I specifically instructed you to properly entertain the Galvez Group. Instead, you kicked them out?"
Amy was confused. "Mr. Jovian, I did entertain them, and we even signed the contract."
Chris demanded, "Entertain? I told you to entertain Mr. Samuel Galvez. Who the hell did you entertain?"
Amy was speechless.
Chris said, "Pack your things and get out. Don't ever show your face in Ardenfall again, or I'll make sure you can't survive."
Amy's eyes widened. She couldn't understand his anger, nor such severe consequences. "Mr. Jovian, I'm sorry; I don't know what I did wrong. I signed with Guinevere. She's also from the Galvez Group. She has the authority to sign; it's the same thing, isn't it?"
Chris loosened his tie, placing his hands on his hips. He couldn't believe her stupidity. "Do you even understand what I'm saying? I wanted Mr. Samuel Galvez, not that trash, Guinevere. And you signed with her? Also, don't think I don't know about the one hundred and fifty thousand bribe you took from Guinevere. Do you dare take kickbacks under my nose? Get out now!" he shouted.
Amy's legs felt weak. She couldn't believe he knew about the one hundred and fifty thousand. She'd ensured the money was transferred to another account, never directly touching it.
"Mr. Jovian, I'm sorry. Please give me another chance," Amy pleaded, realizing the gravity of her situation.
She had worked hard since childhood, excelling in school and gaining admission to the University of Ardenfall. She'd always dreamed of success in the bustling city. After years of hard work, she'd climbed to a managerial position at the Oceania Group—a dream for many. Now, she was about to be fired. Worse, Chris's decree banished her from Ardenfall, ruining her future there. No one would dare hire her.
"Get out," Chris spat coldly, signaling security to remove Amy. Everyone else in the room held their breath, too scared to speak.
He continued, "Brian, as Amy's direct supervisor, you're demoted to a regular manager for neglecting your duties. You will take over Amy's position."
Brian sighed in relief. At least he wasn't fired. His job was safe, for now.
"The contract Amy signed is null and void. You need to do whatever it takes to bring Mr. Samuel Galvez back. If you can't, then you can all find new jobs," Chris threatened before leaving.
Many in the room were sweating profusely, wondering who Samuel Galvez was. They mused, "He's just from a small company. Why is Mr. Jovian so furious?"
The next day, Guinevere arrived, dressed impeccably, ready to meet with the Oceania Group. The receptionist, upon hearing her name, became wary. "I'm sorry, Ms. Galvez, but you're not welcome here. Please leave."
Guinevere exploded. "What do you mean? I have a contract with your company! I'm here to discuss the partnership. How dare you keep me out? You're just a receptionist! Do you know who I am? I'm warning you, I'm a client and a partner. If you don't treat me with respect, you'll be fired!"
The receptionist, tired of Guinevere's arrogance, retorted coldly, "You think you're something special just because of some plastic surgery? If you don't leave now, I'll call security."
Tony, standing nearby, tried to support Guinevere. "Go ahead and call security, you little bitch. Wait till Lee hears about this."
The receptionist, deeming them both unreasonable, called security. The guards arrived and escorted them out.
"Let go of me! What are you doing?" Guinevere screamed. "Fine! I'll file a complaint! I'll call Amy!" She called Amy. "Hey, Amy, where are you?"
"Starfall," came the cold reply.
"Starfall? That tiny, remote town? What are you doing there? Amy, you're not at the company!" Guinevere exclaimed, shocked.
Amy replied, "No."
"Then call your receptionist and tell her to let us in! This receptionist is being absurd. We're here to discuss the partnership. It's driving me crazy!" Guinevere complained, furious, but Amy remained eerily quiet.
Guinevere asked, "Amy, are you listening to me?"
"Enough! Shut up!" Amy finally snapped. "Guinevere, I'm in this mess because of you! I had a great future ahead of me, but you ruined it! You cost me my job and got me kicked out of Ardenfall. I can't live in a big city anymore. I can't achieve my dreams. I'm stuck in this economically backward town of Starfall. It's all because of you. Don't ever call me again. Meeting you has been the unluckiest thing in my life."
Guinevere was stunned.
Amy hung up and blocked Guinevere's number. If it weren't for Guinevere, I could have properly entertained Samuel, and Mr. Jovian might have even promoted me. That Samuel Galvez must be someone important to Mr. Jovian. It is my own greed for that one hundred and fifty thousand that has caused this mess.
"Guinevere, what did Amy say?" Tony asked.
"Who knows? She's gone crazy," Guinevere replied, deciding to ignore Amy. Since the contract was signed, she was ready to work with the Oceania Group.
"I want to see your leader and ask why they're kicking us out after signing the contract," Guinevere shouted.
Soon, Brian arrived, recently promoted to manager, only to be demoted again.
"Ms. Galvez, the contract you signed was with Amy, who violated company rules and has been fired. Therefore, the contract is invalid," Brian explained.
Guinevere said, "Is this how your company operates? You promised to partner with the Galvez Group, and now you just say it's invalid? That's ridiculous."
"We haven't broken our word. We did want to partner with the Galvez Group, but we wanted Mr. Samuel Galvez. No one else will do," Brian stated firmly.
Guinevere was stunned.
"Why?" Tony asked, dissatisfied.
"Because this is the Oceania Group. You can think it over. If you want to partner with us, send Mr. Samuel Galvez," Brian replied coldly.
