Chapter 107

Seraphina shook her head. Isabel sighed and helped her rest. While resting, she overheard a conversation.

“The Flynn family is offering a three-million-dollar reward to find their daughter. If I found that heiress, I’d be rich,” one person said.

“Look, there are two children. Could one of them be Ms. Flynn?” another speculated.

“No way. They look like street kids. How could they be a wealthy heiress?” a third scoffed.

Hearing this, Isabel realized Seraphina must be the missing heiress. She immediately went to the Flynn Corporation, and she was right.

Upon returning to the Flynn residence, servants bathed and dressed Isabel in clean clothes. John and his wife exclaimed, “You really can’t judge a book by its cover. Isabel looks so much better in nice clothes!”

Fond of their reunited daughter, John wanted to fulfill his promise and give Isabel the three-million-dollar reward. But Isabel refused. “Mr. Flynn, I’m just a child. I don’t know what to do with so much money. You should keep it.”

John was surprised. Learning Isabel lived in a rural village, he offered to bring her to the city to live with Seraphina and attend school. Isabel declined again. “Mr. Flynn, I’m fine in the village. My grandfather loves me very much, and I don’t want to come to the city.”

Despite John's attempts to compensate her, Isabel refused, even declining a ride home. Ultimately, she accepted only thirty dollars, stating she would take the bus.

John was impressed by her independence. Unlike five-year-old Seraphina, who still didn't know her way home, Isabel was resourceful, having cleverly rescued Seraphina from human traffickers.

Isabel maintained contact with the Flynn family, particularly Seraphina. John and his wife treated her like their own daughter. Blake found her story fascinating, never expecting such an impressive past.

John told Blake, “Mr. Yates, Isabel may seem aloof, but she’s kind-hearted and warm. Even with my daughter, it took over a year for them to become truly close. I hope you will treat Isabel well. If you dare to hurt her, I won’t stand for it.”

“Mr. Flynn, rest assured. Isabel is a treasure to me,” Blake said sincerely.

Isabel waited outside while Blake spoke with John. A commotion erupted.

“What’s going on?” a young nurse asked.

“A woman is begging for surgery for her husband. Elysian Hospital isn’t a charity. We’re overwhelmed as it is,” another nurse replied.

“Yeah, it’s useless, even if they beg Ms. Flynn,” the first nurse added.

“Has Ms. Flynn arrived?” Isabel asked.

“Yes, the woman timed it perfectly. She’s blocking the entrance,” the nurse explained.

Isabel decided to investigate. If the person truly needed help, she would assist.

Outside, Isabel saw a disheveled woman clutching Seraphina's pants and pleading desperately.

“Ms. Flynn, please save my husband! Only your hospital can cure him!” the woman begged.

“I’m sorry, but our hospital isn’t a charity. This is up to the director. The hospital is almost always full,” Seraphina replied coldly.

She rarely intervened in family matters and disliked hospital affairs. Too many people suffered; not all could be saved.

“Ms. Flynn, please, have mercy!” the woman pleaded.

Seraphina smiled upon seeing Isabel. “Isabel, you’re here.”

The woman looked up, recognizing Isabel. Isabel was shocked. It was Rosy, reduced to a pitiful state since the Clyde family's bankruptcy.

“Do you know her?” Seraphina asked.

Isabel replied indifferently, “Yeah, she’s Caius’s wife.”

Seraphina understood. She thought, She’s Isabel’s adoptive mother, that snobbish woman. I’m glad I didn’t help earlier.

“So it’s you! How dare you show up here? Remember how you bullied Isabel? You deserve this situation!” Seraphina shouted.

Rosy was surprised by Isabel and Seraphina’s close relationship. “Isabel, did you persuade Ms. Flynn not to treat Caius? How could you be so heartless? He was your father for eighteen years! Are you going to wipe out my entire family?” Rosy’s anger flared.

“You old woman, are you crazy! Isabel hasn’t said a word! It’s the hospital’s policy! Why blame her?” Seraphina defended Isabel.

“Besides, what nurturing did you ever give Isabel? You abandoned her! Stop your nonsense!” Seraphina scolded.

Rosy's eyes blazed. She lunged at Isabel, shouting, “You wretched girl! You’ve ruined my family! You have a heart of stone! When has my family ever wronged you? You’ll pay for this!”

“Isabel, watch out!” Seraphina warned.

Isabel fearlessly kicked Rosy, sending her crashing to the ground. Rosy lay disheveled and humiliated. Isabel stepped closer, her gaze cold and chilling.
