Chapter 32
“Neser! You just want to break off the engagement, don’t you!” she exclaimed. “No way! Now that my daughter is pregnant with Liam’s child, you can’t deny it.”
“If you dare to break off the engagement, I will make it known to everyone and let everyone see how irresponsible Liam is. In the first place, you came to us begging for this marriage. No one forced you,” she retorted, confronting Honey.
“Speaking of the engagement, Mrs. Clyde,” Honey began, “the one we agreed on was Isabel. We had our eyes on her, not Amelia. You pulled a switcheroo with a new…”
“I haven’t even settled the score with you yet!” Honey interjected. “So what if we break off the engagement?”
“How can you say that?” Hasy mumbled, adding, “There’s a good reason.”
Amelia, listening to the heated conversation, wept silently. It turned out the Swanson family preferred Isabel! They didn’t like her. Why? She was the real daughter!
Calus slammed his hand on the table. “Stop making excuses! The engagement was set with my daughter. My wife and I only have Amelia as our biological daughter. It’s only Amelia you should choose.”
“Isabel is a fake and shouldn’t even be mentioned! Anyway, my daughter is pregnant. You have to marry her whether you want to or not,” Calus insisted. “Recently, my family has been in the headlines, and since that’s the case, I don’t mind taking your family with us to make headlines again!”
The Clyde family’s attitude was aggressive and reckless. Mr. and Mrs. Swanson discussed it and finally chose to compromise. After all, they were in the wrong and didn’t want the Clyde family to expose them and ruin their reputation. Therefore, the two families discussed and set the wedding date for the beginning of next month.
The Calvez residence:
Isabel helped Samuel stand up. Samuel recovered remarkably quickly with continuous training and the special medicine developed by Isabel. The medicine enabled a faster recovery than other comparable treatments.
“Dad, try walking by yourself!” Isabel encouraged him.
Samuel leaned on his cane and slowly moved his feet. “I can do it!” he said excitedly. At first, he walked very slowly, but with Isabel’s help, he increased his speed.
“Samori, Isabel really made you stand up?” Hannah’s eyes welled up. Her husband had been paralyzed for years, yet now he could stand. This was a dream come true.
“Thanks to Isabel,” Hannah said. “Her medical skills are truly remarkable.”
“Yes, Isabel is our little lucky charm,” Samuel added.
“Mr. Galvez, congratulations!” Blake exclaimed, happy for Samuel.
“Blake, you’ll be the next one standing up!” Samuel said excitedly. He hadn’t expected it to be so fast. He’d thought it would take six months to a year, but it only took two months!
Blake was envious. He hoped he could stand up too, to live a normal life and do what he wanted.
While everyone celebrated Samuel, Isabel felt her phone vibrate. She went to her room and saw Arial was calling.
“What’s up?” she answered.
“Mrs. Clyde said her daughter is getting married next month and knows about our new necklace. She asked to buy a pre-sale piece. I thought I’d ask your opinion.”
“No,” Isabel said gruffly.
Her attitude surprised Arial. “Didn’t you tell us to treat Mrs. Clyde with extra hospitality? Every time she orders, it’s 30% off the market price. What’s wrong?”
“I said no. Inform all our flagship stores not to sell the Clyde family anything!”
Arial pursed her lips, wondering how the Clyde family had offended Isabel. “Okay. I get it.”
On the Clyde family’s side, with the marriage finalized, they prepared for Amelia’s wedding. The Swanson family, however, seemed unconcerned, not even discussing wedding dresses.
“My dear Amelia, don’t be afraid. Mom and Dad will have everything prepared for you,” Rosy said. “I’ve decided to order you a wedding dress designed by Dely Studio. In addition, next month Dely will release a new necklace. Before it hits the market, I will get it for you. People will envy you for having a pre-sale Dely necklace!”
Amelia was her biological daughter; she deserved the best.
“Mom, are you talking about the famous luxury brand, Dely?” Amelia was shocked. She’d known nothing of fashion at the Galvez residence, but since returning to the Clydes, she’d researched luxury brands and knew Dely’s reputation. Dely’s new products were rarely available to the public. In her circles, owning Dely’s new items was a status symbol.
Rosy smiled smugly. “Of course!” She was popular among wealthy ladies because she always obtained Dely’s pre-sale items, often at a 50% discount.
Just as Rosy felt proud, her phone rang.
“What? You won’t give me the necklace?” Rosy was shocked. “Why? My daughter is getting married next month, and I really need this necklace! I was always the first to receive new products. Why am I refused this time?”
“Sorry, Mrs. Clyde. We cannot meet your request,” the staff member replied.
Rosy was furious. “Okay! Then I’ll pay in full! I’ll buy it outright! That should be alright. What do you say?”
“Sorry, Mrs. Clyde, full payment won’t do either.”
“Alright. Then send me one when your new product is released!”
“Sorry, Mrs. Clyde, you have been blocked by our studio. We will not sell you anything in the future.”
“What?” Rosy exploded. She had compromised repeatedly yet was still refused. “What’s your name? How dare you treat your distinguished VIP customer like this! Let me tell you, I have the WhatsApp of your director, Arial Winters. I’ll ask her to deal with you!”
“Sorry, Mrs. Clyde, this is exactly what Miss Winters meant.”
Rosy was speechless. Furious, she hung up, immediately sending Arial a voice message: “[Miss Winters, what’s going on! Someone under you refused to let me buy a necklace! Tell them to apologize to me now!]”
After sending it, Rosy saw the red notification dot—the message hadn't sent. A message popped up: she had been blocked!
