Chapter 34
She quickly turned her face away, covering her lips with both hands. "How… how could you?"
"I'm sorry, Isabel," Blake said, feeling guilty. "I didn't mean to." He pushed himself away and moved to the side.
Only then did Isabel manage to get up. Her face flushed, she said, "You… you practice on your own. I'm leaving!"
Blake was speechless, frozen in place. After a long pause, he touched his lips, as if lingering on her scent. Her lips were so soft, like cotton candy, sweetly fragrant. The experience replayed incessantly in his mind.
The next morning, Isabel was about to leave for school. "Simon left in such a rush today that he forgot his literature textbook! What if he has no book for class?"
"Mom, I'll deliver it to him. I'm heading to school anyway and will pass by their high school."
"Okay, then. Thank you."
Isabel took the textbook and headed out. Meanwhile, Simon had just arrived at school. A luxury car sped by, swerving in a drift that caught everyone's attention. Jacob stepped out, looked at Simon as he passed, and waved his car keys.
"Let me guess, you took the bus again today? Look at my new car. How do you like it?" Jacob asked, deliberately provoking him.
"It has nothing to do with me," Simon said coldly.
"You probably don't get it! People like you, poor as can be, can't even dream of affording a car like this. You don't know anything about sports cars."
"What's your problem?" Simon asked angrily.
Jacob, son of a wealthy family, had always picked on Simon, showing off at every opportunity. Simon couldn't stand it and felt resentful.
"You're the one with the problem! I think it's a poverty complex. If you kneel down and beg me, maybe I'll let you experience what driving a sports car feels like."
Simon clenched his fists. Usually, he would have punched him, but then he would be bullied by Jacob's friends. After thinking about his sister's words, he held back.
"Oh, so you've learned to hold back today! Well, let me tell you something you don't know—your mom was carrying a whole bag of vegetables..."
"Do you know what happened to those vegetables? They were thrown out like trash, hahahaha. The garbage is what your family can only produce!"
"Jacob! What did you just say? Are you bullying my friend?" Phillip suddenly appeared.
