Chapter 96

In the past few days, David had hesitated to contact Guinevere, fearing she would abandon him. Now, it seemed she intended to.

“Love! David, do you genuinely believe I’m unaware of your flirtations with the company employees? I’ve refrained from confronting you because I didn’t want to shatter your illusions. What affection do you claim to hold for me? We are merely using each other. Now that you’ve outlived your usefulness, I see no reason to concern myself with you any longer! Farewell!”

With that, Guinevere resolutely left the hospital room. After leaving, she swiftly dismissed thoughts of David. He was unreliable; she could only rely on herself. Immediately, she called Amy, her senior at Oceania Group.

“Hello, Amy, it’s Guinevere. Do you remember me?”

“Of course! What a pleasure to hear from you!”

Guinevere chuckled. “Our company is interested in collaborating with Oceania Group. Since Oceania Group is venturing into e-bike production, we can provide renewable energy solutions. Are you aware of this?”

Amy replied, “You’ve come to the right person; I’m in charge of this collaboration.” Guinevere felt destiny was on her side.

“However,” Amy continued, “I can’t make decisions alone; we must await higher-ups’ approval, so I can’t promise anything.”

“I understand. Rest assured, I won’t put you in a difficult position. I merely need you to advocate for the Galvez Group within Oceania Group. Should this succeed, I will reward you with a bonus of thirty thousand dollars!”

Amy replied, “Keep that in mind.”

Working for Oceania Group had earned Amy considerable respect, prompting Guinevere to seek her favor after such a long period of no contact. However, Amy felt uncertain, lacking the authority to make unilateral decisions.

Just after hanging up, Amy received a call from her superior. “Amy, we’ve decided to choose the Galvez Group for this renewable energy collaboration. Do you understand?”

Amy, momentarily taken aback, responded, “Yes!”

The higher-ups were prioritizing the Galvez Group. Moments ago, Guinevere had contacted them about a potential collaboration. How smoothly things were progressing! That was a substantial bonus at stake.

With the higher-ups endorsing the Galvez Group, Amy could secure a hefty profit from Guinevere—an extraordinary turn of events. Amy promptly called Guinevere back.

“Hello, Amy? Do you have an update?” Guinevere inquired eagerly.

Amy grinned. “After all these years at Oceania Group, I can confidently handle this minor matter. However, the price might exceed your initial offer of thirty thousand.”

Contemplating the partnership and the opportunity to oust her adversary, Guinevere asked, “How much do you need?”

“150 thousand dollars.”

“150 thousand dollars!” Guinevere was stunned. Thirty thousand was already generous; yet Amy demanded five times that amount.

“Guinevere, countless companies vie for a partnership with Oceania Group. The price of 150 thousand is merely because of our relations; other companies have offered much more! If this request is too steep for you, we can part ways…”

As Amy pretended to end the call, Guinevere said, “Wait! I will pay! As long as you assure me of securing the deal, I have no objections!”

“Assured. I keep my word.”

With Amy’s assurance, Guinevere felt a wave of relief. She was confident she would beat Label this time.

The next day, Samuel personally visited the project leader at Oceania Group. Amy was in her office when she learned a representative from the Galvez Group had arrived. She promptly invited him in.

“Hello, Ms. Lee, I am Samuel Galvez, the head of Star Electronics, a subsidiary of the Galvez Group.”

Unaware of the intricate relations within the Calvez family, Amy assumed Guinevere had sent him. She was exceedingly cordial. “Mr. Galvez, what a pleasure to meet you! Would you prefer coffee or water?”

“Water, please. I would like to discuss a potential partnership with your company…”

“I see! Please, have some water first!” Amy personally poured the water.

Samuel was taken aback by the warm reception. He hadn’t anticipated such friendliness. After taking a sip, he asked Helen to present the proposal.

Samuel began, “Ms. Lee, this is our company’s qualifications…”

“There’s no need to review those. I have great admiration for your company. How about I prepare the contract right away and we can schedule a time to sign it tomorrow?”

Samuel was speechless. The signing was far too effortless. He had expected to be turned away or at least face difficulty securing a partnership. Given the multitude of companies eager to partner with Oceania Group, he thought there would be a waiting period. But everything happened so smoothly.

“Very well. Thank you, Ms. Lee! Just let us know your preferred timing,” Samuel replied before leaving.

Once back in the car, Helen expressed her bewilderment. “Mr. Galvez, this is far easier than we anticipated. What’s going on? It feels as though Oceania Group is eagerly awaiting our collaboration.”

“I have no idea. Since it’s gone so smoothly, I’m satisfied. This way I can provide a good report to Sophia!” Everything was in place; all that remained was to sign the contract the next day.

Upon returning home, Samuel cheerfully announced that discussions with Oceania Group had been remarkably successful and that they would be signing the contract the following day. Everyone was thrilled.

However, Jack curiously inquired, “Dad, how did you manage it so effortlessly?”

“Well… I find it puzzling as well. The people there seem to hold me in high esteem, as if they can hardly wait to finalize a deal! They didn’t even scrutinize the qualifications I provided.”

“That is odd,” Jack mused.

“As long as we can secure the agreement, it doesn’t matter,” Isabel interjected. “To prevent any unforeseen complications, we should arrive early tomorrow to finalize the deal.” She had already alerted Chris.

The following day, Blake arrived early to take Isabel to school, prompting Hannah to invite him for breakfast.

“Blake, what’s new?” Samuel joyfully asked.

“I was out of town for a while, but all is well. What about you? How is the company you manage?”

“Quite well! In fact, I’m heading to Oceania Group today. We’ve managed to secure a partnership with them!” Samuel beamed with pride. He had arrived early specifically to facilitate the signing.

Blake frowned slightly. “Oceania Group?”
