Chapter 98

“They were just playing us,” Helen complained.

“Honestly, I thought it was too good to be true. They agreed to partner with us so easily,” Samuel said calmly. “It turns out it was all fake. There must be some reason. Let’s go back for now and figure out a plan later.”

As they were about to leave, Guinevere arrived, smirking triumphantly. “Samuel, what happened to you?” she mocked.

“Guinevere, what are you doing here?” Samuel asked.

“I’m here to talk about the partnership with the Oceania Group,” Guinevere said, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Samuel, did they kick you out?”

“It’s none of your business,” Samuel replied coldly.

“I’m taking this partnership,” Guinevere declared. “You should just stop competing with us and hand over control of the company. It’s for everyone’s good.”

“Mr. Galvez, let’s ignore her,” Helen advised.

Samuel, unwilling to argue, turned and left.

“Mr. Galvez, if we can’t get the partnership, neither can Guinevere. It’s not that easy to secure,” Helen said, trying to comfort him.

But Samuel remained uneasy. “I feel like Guinevere seems pretty confident. I think Amy’s sudden change of heart might have something to do with Guinevere.”

“If that’s the case, Mr. Galvez, what do we do next?” Helen asked.

“Let’s see what Guinevere’s up to first,” Samuel replied.

Guinevere arrived at the Oceania Group, greeted personally by Amy. “Guinevere, you are here. I almost messed things up. I’m really sorry,” Amy said with a smile. “But everything’s still on track.”

Guinevere breathed a sigh of relief. She had rushed to sign the contract, fearing someone else might seize the opportunity.

“I’ve prepared the contract,” Amy said, giving Guinevere a meaningful look.

Guinevere smiled. “Amy, I’ve already transferred the 150 thousand to your designated account. You can trust me on this.”

“Great! Let’s get this signed,” Amy said.

After the formalities, Guinevere happily held the contract. “Thank you so much, Amy!”

“Looking forward to working with you,” Amy said, shaking her hand.

Guinevere called William and Tony with the good news. They were thrilled, praising her capability.

Isabel arrived at the company, finding Samuel worried. “Dad, what’s wrong?” she asked.

“Isabel, the partnership with the Oceania Group might fall through,” Samuel said.

“Why?” Isabel asked, surprised. Haven’t I already taken care of things? she thought.

“They were very friendly before. But this morning, when I went to sign the contract, they suddenly changed their minds and kicked us out. I don’t know what happened. The people at the Oceania Group are really unpredictable,” Samuel explained.

Isabel narrowed her eyes. This shouldn’t have happened. The contract was supposed to go smoothly. Kicking my father… outrageous! she thought.

Samuel’s phone rang—Sophia. After the call, he said, “Isabel, your grandma just called and told me to come back right away. I think it has something to do with the Oceania Group. When I left, I saw Guinevere going in. Did she get the partnership?”

“Dad, I’ll go back with you and see what’s going on,” Isabel said. She couldn’t believe the deal had gone wrong. Chris, that jerk, needs a serious talking-to, she thought, immediately calling him.

At the Galvez residence, laughter and joy filled the air. Sophia held the contract, beaming. “Guinevere, I never expected you to be so capable. You single-handedly secured the partnership with the Oceania Group. You’ve really brought honor to our family. I used to think you were just a frivolous girl, but I didn’t know you well enough,” Sophia said.

Guinevere preened. “Grandma, you flatter me. I was reckless before, but when it comes to family interests, I can be very diligent. Securing the partnership wasn’t easy, especially with so many competitors. Our family is insignificant compared to them, but I managed to outdo everyone.”

Sophia praised her, and William added, “Guinevere really did a great job this time, and we’re all very proud.” Sophia continued, “Back in the day, the Clyde family rose to prominence because of the Oceania Group. If we can maintain a long-term partnership, our Galvez Group will rise in status in Ardenfall. Maybe we’ll even become one of the top ten companies in the city.”

“Absolutely. We’ll all work hard,” William said, excited.

“Mrs. Sophia Galvez, Mr. Samuel Galvez, and Ms. Isabel Galvez are here,” the butler announced.

Sophia’s smile vanished. “Let them in,” she said.

Guinevere eagerly awaited Isabel’s arrival, wanting to humiliate her.

When Samuel and Isabel entered, they saw the family staring. Guinevere’s smile was wide.

“Mom, what did you want?” Samuel asked.

“Samuel, I told you to secure the partnership, and you haven’t even given me an update. But Guinevere managed to get it. How do you explain that?” Sophia demanded.

Samuel glanced at Guinevere, surprised. “Mom, Guinevere is indeed very capable,” he said diplomatically. He couldn’t say anything else; Guinevere had the contract, and he didn’t.
