Chapter 100
Abigail looked extremely impatient. Not wanting them to ruin everyoneโs mood like Christian and Bardella had done before, she excused herself and turned to Gabriel, saying, โLetโs talk somewhere less crowded.โ
โWhy?โ Christian immediately wore an unhappy expression. Sebastian was right there; this was a matter that could be explained in a few sentences, yet Abigail was making excuses.
James wanted to help Abigail out, but Warren held him back. โAbigail, after you finish talking to him about the chip implantation and medical robot improvements, go introduce the details to Sebโs client again,โ Warren said.
Warrenโs words made Gabriel alert. He glanced at Sebastian and found he showed no sign of objection. When Gabriel looked back at Abigail, his eyes were filled with inquiry and unease.
The three went to the entrance of the banquet hall. Gabriel didnโt immediately bring up Stephenโs matter but asked, โThe project with Celestial Group is about the chip? Are you the main person in charge of this project?โ
โArenโt you here to talk about Stephen?โ Abigail looked at him and Christian with mockery.
Christian said, โWhatโs your attitudeโโ
Gabriel interrupted his son, who was about to scold Abigail. โSheโs your sister. Donโt speak to her with so much hostility.โ
Then, he leaned closer to Abigail with a flattering smile and said amiably, โAbby, my company is also very capable. Why donโt you come and take a look when you have time?
โAlthough we canโt make chips, weโve participated in the research and development of many mobile applications.โ
โWhen did you learn programming?โ Christian still didnโt believe it, and seeing how close she had sat to Sebastian the other day, he was sure she was only here because of Sebastian.
Abigail said, โAbout Stephenโs matter, if Ralph can find a lawyer to settle it privately, thatโs fine. If not, donโt come to me.
โOtherwise, Iโll send the surveillance video to the police station. Whoever in the Gibson family hit someone should go to prison.โ Abigail ignored Christian and looked coldly at Gabriel.
The kind smile on Gabrielโs face vanished, and he stared at her coldly. โAbby, did you have someone spy on me?โ
โI donโt have the time to spy on you. If you donโt want others to know your dirty deeds, donโt do it,โ Abigail said, then turned and left. Christian tried to stop her, but Gabriel held him back.
Standing in the corner, Christian looked confused, while Gabriel said darkly, โSheโs different from us, so she has no feelings for us at all.โ
Christian was taken aback and asked in confusion, โHow is she different from us? Also, is the video she mentioned about Dani or Stevie?โ
โStop asking. It seems we canโt count on her,โ Gabriel hadnโt expected that approaching Abigail would not only fail to solve the problem but also reveal that she had evidence of his hit-and-run.
Abigail returned to Sebastian and the others. Seeing that he was still staring at Gabriel, she said softly, โSorry for the trouble.โ
โWhat did you say to him?โ Sebastian retracted his gaze and looked at her with a hint of displeasure.
Abigail said, โI just refused to help the Gibson family keep Stephen out of prison. Why?โ
Sebastian looked at her as if he could see through her thoughts. โYou have some important evidence against Gabriel, donโt you?โ
His words startled Abigail. She widened her eyes and asked, โHow did you know?โ
โYou should be careful recently,โ Sebastian said. "Gabriel looked at you with hostility."
James interjected, โSeb, what are you going on about?โ
Warren continued, โThis is just to let her lie low. The Gibson familyโs issues will have to be resolved eventually.โ
Sebastian sat down, leaned back in his chair, and motioned for Abigail to sit beside him, not expecting Gabriel to harm her because of the surveillance video. But thinking about how the Gibson family had treated her, everything made sense.
Gabriel had even sent his own biological son, whom heโd raised for years, to take the blameโlet alone her. She had only wanted to threaten Gabriel with the video to make him behave, not expecting he might try harm her because of it.
James picked up his wine glass, took a sip, and said casually, โItโs up to you. If you want someone from their family to go to prison, itโs not impossible."
Sebastian turned to look at Abigail, still with a casual attitude, but his eyes were exceptionally focused.
