Chapter 151

Abigail had no defenses up and leaned against Sebastian, laughing so hard her stomach hurt.

James and Warren were quietly chuckling too.

After she finished laughing, Sebastian heard her say, “I knew you were scared, that’s why I didn’t finish watching it. What if we went to an escape room and you got scared to death?”

“What exactly do you take me for?” Sebastian’s expression went flat.

Abigail pulled herself free from his arm and turned to face him seriously. “It’s better not to try stuff like that. If you’re scared, don’t go. It’s like how I’m afraid of heights. I never do extreme sports.”

Ralph actually loved extreme sports and used to go all the time. Daniella would tag along with him, but since Abigail was terrified of heights, she’d have to stay home while they went out.

“So you’ve been messing with me this whole evening?” Sebastian said with a mock laugh.

Abigail had a slight smile on her lips. “No, I really didn’t know you were scared of horror movies at first. Otherwise I would have picked a sci-fi film.”

“See, this is why you should always be honest with people, right?” James said to Warren with a grin.

Warren’s voice carried both helplessness and affection. “Abby’s learned to be a little troublemaker. Only she would dare tease Seb like this.”

“That’s because I let her get away with it,” Sebastian immediately chimed in.

Abigail paused for a moment. She realized he was right. Back when she’d thought of him as just a business partner, she never would have dared joke around with him like this.

“Alright, I’m going to take a shower,” Abigail said, feeling a bit awkward as she quickly stood up.

Sebastian got up too and straightened his clothes. “I’ll wait in your bedroom.”

Abigail immediately looked at him suspiciously.

“What if you slip and fall and we don’t hear you? That could be serious,” Sebastian said matter-of-factly.

“Exactly,” James agreed.

“We’re having the hotel staff clean up all this stuff. Abby, do you want us to save anything for a late-night snack? These prawns are great with the dipping sauce, and we’ve got octopus too. Should we set some aside?” Warren asked thoughtfully.

“Thanks, you guys have been great.” Abigail was in a really good mood today.

She followed Sebastian into the hotel room, grabbed her pajamas, and headed into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. She wasn’t worried at all about Sebastian trying anything inappropriate.

Sebastian sat in her room and pulled out his phone to scroll through the news. He could hear the shower running in the bathroom, but he had no intention of prying.

Even though Sebastian really wanted to ask her again today whether she’d consider being with him, he figured it was better to give Abigail more time to think about it.

When Abigail finished her shower 30 minutes later, Sebastian was still in the same position by the desk, reading on his phone.

“I’m done, but I’m still not tired. I want to watch a movie.” Since they had nothing else to do, Abigail figured she might as well treat this like a vacation.

“Sure, let me go shower in my room first. I’ll come back and watch with you when I’m done,” Sebastian said casually.

Before Abigail could really process what he’d said, he was already walking toward the door. She sat on the edge of the bed, toweling her hair dry. What exactly is going on between me and Sebastian? she wondered.

Earlier in the bathroom, Abigail had suddenly realized that when Sebastian had pulled her into his arms, she hadn’t even thought it was inappropriate at the time.

As the memory hit her—his body warmth, his solid muscles, and that distinctly masculine scent—Abigail felt awkward and embarrassed standing there in the bathroom.

Abigail dried her hair and stepped out of the bedroom. When she saw that Sebastian and the others weren’t around, she finally relaxed.

Meanwhile, Sebastian was getting cornered by James and Warren.

“You seriously didn’t confess to her in the room?” James asked, looking completely skeptical.

“The mood was perfect tonight. If you couldn’t seal the deal, then you’re really hopeless,” Warren said with a sigh, shaking his head in exasperation.

Sebastian’s eyes turned cold and he let out a dismissive snort. “If I can’t win her over, then I can’t win her over. She’s not like those other women who only care about my money and looks.”

“Actually, you’re missing something,” James said, taking a step back to look him up and down. “Don’t forget your body. Those women chasing you are definitely attracted to that too.”

“So maybe Abby’s not interested because she’s still too young?” Warren mused, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

James smacked his forehead. “Oh man, we totally forgot about that! She’s barely 22. Girls that age are so innocent. They don’t have those kinds of needs yet.”

“Watch your mouth,” Sebastian’s face immediately darkened.

James quickly made a zipping motion across his lips.

Warren’s expression turned serious too. “So she was barely 18 when her own family sent her to prison.”

The mention of this made Sebastian’s face darken even more.
