Listen to this chapter:

Sebastian replied, โ€œYeah. We were planning to have dinner with you and then take you home.โ€ As he spoke, his tone softened without him realizing it.

Abigail let out a soft โ€œmm,โ€ unwrapped the cake, and nibbled on it. It was sweet without being heavy and actually tasted great.

Sebastian kept his eyes on the road and asked casually, โ€œDid your coworkers like the gifts you brought them?โ€

Abigail replied, โ€œThey loved them. Thanks for reminding me to get something for them.โ€

Money wasnโ€™t an issue for her now, and she didnโ€™t mind spending a little to make her day-to-day interactions at work smoother.

โ€œNo need to be so polite with us,โ€ Sebastian said, his voice tinged with a smile.

When they arrived at the restaurant, Sebastian led Abigail into the private dining room they had reserved. But the moment they stepped inside, they saw Daniella, Christian, and Stephen were there.

Daniella jumped up the second she saw them. Her voice carried a hint of awkwardness as she said, โ€œChris and I were just here for dinner. We didnโ€™t expect to run into Grandpa and Mr. Judson.โ€

As she spoke, her eyes kept drifting toward Sebastian. She could tell he had just wrapped up something important, dressed in a sharp suit, tall and effortlessly reserved. Even she had to admit that no woman could resist that kind of charm.

Catching Daniella sneaking peeks at Sebastian made Abigail feel restless and annoyed, but she kept her expression as frosty as ever.

Abigail walked over and took a seat beside her grandfather, asking, โ€œWhat kind of business are you discussing with Ren, Grandpa? Is there anything I can help with?โ€

Wyatt waved her off. โ€œNo need. Just focus on doing what makes you happy. Oh, and Iโ€™ll be transferring you some allowance at the end of the month. Give me your new card.โ€ As he said it, his eyes were locked on Christian.

Christian was the one managing all the out-of-state companies, more than a dozen subsidiaries in total, so Wyatt rarely handled things himself.

But when Wyatt checked the accounts recently, he discovered that Abigailโ€™s monthly allowance card only had five thousand dollars on it, while Daniellaโ€™s reached nearly three million dollars.

To make matters worse, Wyatt found out that Abigail hadnโ€™t received a single cent during her three years in prison. The money only started coming in after she returned to Gibson Villa. Even then, the total on the card hadnโ€™t reached thirty thousand dollars.

Abigail barely spent any of it. The most she ever withdrew was a thousand dollars. The rest of the time, it was just a couple bucks here and there, probably to buy snacks. In fact, she had stopped using the card entirely three years ago.

When Wyatt found all this out, he locked himself in his office and cried the entire morning. He mused, โ€˜Oh, my poor girlโ€ฆ What kind of hell was she living through at Gibson Villa?โ€™

Christianโ€™s expression darkened, and he quickly jumped in. โ€œAt first, each of them was supposed to get two million dollars, but back then Dani-โ€

Stephen cut him off, โ€œRight, Daniella was in a bad mood, so you just handed her the whole allowance.โ€

He sneered and went on. โ€œSo, being in a bad mood gets you two million dollars in pocket money? No one had it better than her. Still had the nerve to fake depression.โ€

Daniellaโ€™s eyes immediately turned red. Sitting there in front of Sebastian and Warren, she looked like she wanted to disappear.

Wyattโ€™s face turned grim, and his voice grew cold as he said, โ€œThatโ€™s enough. Letโ€™s not air our familyโ€™s dirty laundry.โ€

Turning around, he handed the menu to Abigail and said to Sebastian next to her, โ€œYou two go ahead and order whatever you like. Dinner is on me tonight, so go wild.โ€

Chapter 157

โ€œThank you, Mr. Wyatt Gibson,โ€ Sebastian smiled and nodded.

Warren was holding the menu and smiling at Abigail and Sebastian when James walked in.

Noticing the number of people in the private dining room, James let out a surprised โ€œHuh?โ€ before walking up with a cheerful grin to greet Wyatt.

โ€œOh, Mr. Wyatt Gibson,โ€ James said, โ€œI was in such a rush I didnโ€™t have time to prepare anything proper. I had someone send this over last minute. Apparently, itโ€™s good for blood pressure. Be sure to take it when you get home.โ€

It turned out that he hadnโ€™t followed them in earlier because he was busy getting Wyatt some supplements.

โ€œYou didnโ€™t have to do that, reallyโ€ฆ Itโ€™s just dinner, not a special occasion,โ€ Wyatt quickly tried to turn it down.

But James placed the package next to Wyatt and slid into the seat beside Sebastian.

James said, โ€œThis was actually for my dad, but heโ€™s got low blood pressure and canโ€™t take it. You would really be doing me a huge favor by taking it.

โ€œBesides, this stuff wasnโ€™t cheap. I had an expert make it, and you canโ€™t find it at any regular pharmacy.โ€

Before Wyatt could respond, James went on. โ€œAnd Seb asked me about it just for Abby, you know. So really, itโ€™s kind of from her.โ€

Wyatt immediately turned to Abigail, eyebrows raised in surprise.

Her face warmed, but she kept her tone steady. โ€œDonโ€™t listen to himโ€ฆ But since itโ€™s already here, you might as well keep it. Iโ€™ll write them a few more programs later as thanks. You can consider that a thank-you on your behalf, Grandpa.โ€

A smile slowly spread across Wyattโ€™s face. โ€œWell, if you put it like that, Abbyโ€ฆ I would be rude to say no.โ€
