Listen to this chapter:

โ€œI drove over. Come downstairs in a bit.โ€ Sebastianโ€™s voice had lost its usual laid-back tone.

โ€œIโ€™m fine.โ€ Abigail wiped the tears off her face. She was indeed upset, but not enough to expect anything from Sebastian just because of what Stephen did.

โ€œHe even called to threaten me,โ€ Sebastian sighed. โ€œHe said if I didnโ€™t come, I shouldnโ€™t call myself your boyfriend.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re not even dating.โ€ Abigailโ€™s tone was awkward. She truly thought Stephen had something wrong with his brain. Otherwise, he wouldnโ€™t cause her to lose her composure in front of Sebastian.

Abigail had always thought she was emotionally stable, yet a butterfly hairclip had her crying in front of Sebastian. She felt pathetic.

โ€œBut I want to.โ€ Sebastianโ€™s voice softened.

Tears still clung to Abigailโ€™s cheeks, and she didnโ€™t know how to respond.

โ€œYou donโ€™t have to answer me right away,โ€ he added.

Abigail checked the timeโ€“it was nearly 1 a.m. She said, โ€œItโ€™s too late, you really shouldnโ€™t come.โ€

She had always seen Sebastian as a good friend. Sometimes even she didnโ€™t understand what was bothering herโ€“just the idea of casually starting a relationship with him made her uncomfortable. Even if he wanted to date her, she couldnโ€™t allow herself to agree so easily.

โ€œHonestly, I canโ€™t sleep either. Thereโ€™s something I canโ€™t figure out. Want to chat?โ€ Sebastian asked.

Abigail couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œWhat is it?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m working on an AI. Something for mass use, to help people search for informationโ€“but Iโ€™m stuck on part of the concept,โ€ Sebastian said.

Abigail unconsciously tightened her grip on her phone. She found it oddly coincidental that their ideas were so similar.

โ€œYou still need to look things up?โ€ Abigail found it hard to believe. With his abilities, he had an entire team that could bring his ideas to life in minutes. She didnโ€™t underestimate the power of wealthy people.

โ€œI donโ€™t, but my classmates and their friends do,โ€ Sebastian said casually.

Abigail said, โ€œThen come and tell me in person.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t hang up, Iโ€™m almost there,โ€ he said.

โ€œWhere exactly are you stuck?โ€ Abigail hesitated, debating whether she should share what she had been working on. But if she did, it would turn into a work-related matter.

The truth was that Abigail had only intended to work slowly on her AI project. She hadnโ€™t planned to rush, because she wanted to add her own creative touches. It was born out of personal interest and practical needs.

โ€œIโ€™ll tell you when I get there,โ€ Sebastian said with a laugh.

Abigail wondered if he was just teasing her. But a few minutes later, Sebastian really did pull up outside Gibson Villa.

Gibson Villa was located in an upscale neighborhood in Cobridge, where the streetlights were bright even at night. So when Sebastian drove his luxury car, Daniella, sitting by her bedroom window, spotted him immediately.

A handsome man stepped out of the car, his white shirt casually tucked into his waistband, giving him a free-spirited look.

Daniellaโ€™s eyes burned with jealousy. She couldnโ€™t understand why he liked Abigail more. Even if she was the adopted daughter of the Gibson family, Daniella thought she had been carefully groomedโ€“her looks and knowledge far surpassed Abigailโ€™s.

Ralph had rejected Daniella multiple times and even defended Abigail. And now, even someone like Sebastian cared so much about Abigail. This baffled Daniella.

Soon, Abigail appeared. The moment Sebastian, leaning against the car, saw her, his cold expression melted away.

Daniella watched for a while before furiously yanking the curtains shut. She grew more convinced that Abigail didnโ€™t deserve Sebastian.

All her jealousy and resentment boiled up inside her. If Abigail had never existed, she would still be the beloved princess of the Gibson family.

She clenched her fists and thought viciously, โ€˜Abigail should just die.โ€™

At the same time, Abigail got into the car with Sebastian. She thought theyโ€™d just sit and chat about her ideas of AI in the car, but he started the engine.

โ€œWhere are we going?โ€ Abigail asked immediately.

โ€œTo my place for a bit,โ€ Sebastian replied.

โ€œOn such a late night?โ€ Abigail immediately grew cautious. Going to a manโ€™s houseโ€“especially one who had expressed interest in herโ€“this late at night could spell all kinds of trouble.

โ€œWhy is your mind full of those indecent thoughts?โ€ Sebastian chuckled lazily.

โ€œItโ€™s called basic self-protection awareness,โ€ Abigail replied.

โ€œThatโ€™s a good mindset. You should have this kind of thinking around all men from now on.โ€ Sebastian couldnโ€™t help but laugh approvingly.
