Wyatt thought Abigailโs reasoning made sense. People like Sebastian, with that kind of personality, would hide anything thatโs theirs and not allow anyone to peek.
โIโve already driven over to pick you up, but since you want to stay at his place, Iโll just come and check on you. Iโll only feel at ease once Iโm sure heโs not home,โ Wyatt said softly.
Abigail felt happy. She gently responded, โOkay, I havenโt had dinner yet. When you get here, letโs go to the nearby shopping street and eat.โ
โSure,โ Wyatt answered immediately.
When Wyatt arrived, the cats were cautious of him, but soon a few of the familiar ones came over to rub against him.
โHow come there are so many?โ Wyatt was taken aback by the number of cats.
โHeโs taken in nine stray cats, so itโs a bit much. See, I wasnโt lying,โ Abigail explained.
Wyatt glanced around inside. The cats were outside, and the house was pitch dark, clearly empty.
โHe went on a business trip,โ Abigail continued. She spoke a little more freely around her grandfather.
โSince you like these cats and want to stay here and play with them, I wonโt force you to go back. Letโs go eat,โ Wyatt said, gently resting his hand on her slender shoulder.
Abigail followed him to the door and turned around to tell the cats following them, โIโll be back soon, wait for me for a while.โ
As they stepped out of the yard, Abigailโs smile froze when she saw that Stephen had also arrived.
โWhat are you doing here?โ Wyatt asked, his tone not pleased.
Seeing the smile fade from Abigailโs face, Stephen immediately explained, โI was on my way home and saw Grandpaโs car pull up. I was worried something had happened, so I followed him. I wasnโt stalking Grandpa.โ
Wyatt looked at Abigail. โForget it, donโt argue with him. Letโs go eat first.โ
โRight, letโs eat,โ Stephen quickly agreed, his voice tense.
The three of them arrived at a restaurant outside the villa district. Abigail picked a table and ordered food for herself and Wyatt, completely ignoring Stephen.
Wyatt glanced at the tense Stephen, then asked Abigail, โHe probably hasnโt eaten either. Arenโt you going to order him something?โ
โI didnโt say I wouldnโt let him order any food,โ Abigail replied coolly.
Stephen picked up the menu and said with a smile, โAbby, I know Iโve always annoyed you, and Iโve been pretty unbearable in the past. I promise Iโll change in the future.โ
โFine, I think youโre fine this way,โ Abigail said coldly. If he started acting all sweet to her, Daniella would probably stir up trouble again.
Stephen froze for a moment, conflicted about whether to fix his mistakes or leave things as they were.
Wyatt said, โStevie, if you really want to treat her well, then no matter what happens in the company in the future, you should always prioritize her interests. Iโm getting old, but you two are youngโฆโ
โGrandpa, youโre still in good health. I asked Sebastian, and the doctor he found for you said your health is great, and youโll live a long time,โ Abigail quickly said.
โIโm just worried something unexpected might happen,โ Wyatt said, patting her hand gently.
Abigailโs eyes reddened slightly but she didnโt say anything.
โIf the Gibson family gets into a battle over shares, Iโm willing to give her my shares. Would that be okay?โ Stephen said.
Abigail couldnโt help but look at him. She wondered, โWas Stephen really changing?โ
โYou better keep your word. You have ten percent of the shares, and thatโs really important for Abby,โ Wyatt said in a serious tone.
โI want those shares for her. I know you and Warren are planning something, Grandpa,โ Stephen said with a smile.
Sebastian had already made it clear that he considered Abigail his girlfriend by letting her stay in his house.
Warren and Sebastian were on the same side. If the Gibson family really started fighting over shares, Stephen would likely buy up the shares of other shareholders, ensuring Abigail had the advantage in the competition.
The Gibson Group was Wyattโs legacy. If a battle over assets broke out, Abigail would definitely make sure his family wouldnโt be destroyed by those despicable people.
Wyatt looked at Stephen with a bit more seriousness. Stephen appeared to be a simpleton, but he definitely had his own agendaโhe just didnโt want to compete with Christian.
โKeep your mouth shut,โ Wyatt warned, then poured Abigail a glass of water.
Abigail looked at Wyatt seriously. It seemed like both Sebastian and Wyatt were hiding something from her.
