Listen to this chapter:

Wyatt thought Abigailโ€™s reasoning made sense. People like Sebastian, with that kind of personality, would hide anything thatโ€™s theirs and not allow anyone to peek.

โ€œIโ€™ve already driven over to pick you up, but since you want to stay at his place, Iโ€™ll just come and check on you. Iโ€™ll only feel at ease once Iโ€™m sure heโ€™s not home,โ€ Wyatt said softly.

Abigail felt happy. She gently responded, โ€œOkay, I havenโ€™t had dinner yet. When you get here, letโ€™s go to the nearby shopping street and eat.โ€

โ€œSure,โ€ Wyatt answered immediately.

When Wyatt arrived, the cats were cautious of him, but soon a few of the familiar ones came over to rub against him.

โ€œHow come there are so many?โ€ Wyatt was taken aback by the number of cats.

โ€œHeโ€™s taken in nine stray cats, so itโ€™s a bit much. See, I wasnโ€™t lying,โ€ Abigail explained.

Wyatt glanced around inside. The cats were outside, and the house was pitch dark, clearly empty.

โ€œHe went on a business trip,โ€ Abigail continued. She spoke a little more freely around her grandfather.

โ€œSince you like these cats and want to stay here and play with them, I wonโ€™t force you to go back. Letโ€™s go eat,โ€ Wyatt said, gently resting his hand on her slender shoulder.

Abigail followed him to the door and turned around to tell the cats following them, โ€œIโ€™ll be back soon, wait for me for a while.โ€

As they stepped out of the yard, Abigailโ€™s smile froze when she saw that Stephen had also arrived.

โ€œWhat are you doing here?โ€ Wyatt asked, his tone not pleased.

Seeing the smile fade from Abigailโ€™s face, Stephen immediately explained, โ€œI was on my way home and saw Grandpaโ€™s car pull up. I was worried something had happened, so I followed him. I wasnโ€™t stalking Grandpa.โ€

Wyatt looked at Abigail. โ€œForget it, donโ€™t argue with him. Letโ€™s go eat first.โ€

โ€œRight, letโ€™s eat,โ€ Stephen quickly agreed, his voice tense.

The three of them arrived at a restaurant outside the villa district. Abigail picked a table and ordered food for herself and Wyatt, completely ignoring Stephen.

Wyatt glanced at the tense Stephen, then asked Abigail, โ€œHe probably hasnโ€™t eaten either. Arenโ€™t you going to order him something?โ€

โ€œI didnโ€™t say I wouldnโ€™t let him order any food,โ€ Abigail replied coolly.

Stephen picked up the menu and said with a smile, โ€œAbby, I know Iโ€™ve always annoyed you, and Iโ€™ve been pretty unbearable in the past. I promise Iโ€™ll change in the future.โ€

โ€œFine, I think youโ€™re fine this way,โ€ Abigail said coldly. If he started acting all sweet to her, Daniella would probably stir up trouble again.

Stephen froze for a moment, conflicted about whether to fix his mistakes or leave things as they were.

Wyatt said, โ€œStevie, if you really want to treat her well, then no matter what happens in the company in the future, you should always prioritize her interests. Iโ€™m getting old, but you two are youngโ€ฆโ€

โ€œGrandpa, youโ€™re still in good health. I asked Sebastian, and the doctor he found for you said your health is great, and youโ€™ll live a long time,โ€ Abigail quickly said.

โ€œIโ€™m just worried something unexpected might happen,โ€ Wyatt said, patting her hand gently.

Abigailโ€™s eyes reddened slightly but she didnโ€™t say anything.

โ€œIf the Gibson family gets into a battle over shares, Iโ€™m willing to give her my shares. Would that be okay?โ€ Stephen said.

Abigail couldnโ€™t help but look at him. She wondered, โ€˜Was Stephen really changing?โ€™

โ€œYou better keep your word. You have ten percent of the shares, and thatโ€™s really important for Abby,โ€ Wyatt said in a serious tone.

โ€œI want those shares for her. I know you and Warren are planning something, Grandpa,โ€ Stephen said with a smile.

Sebastian had already made it clear that he considered Abigail his girlfriend by letting her stay in his house.

Warren and Sebastian were on the same side. If the Gibson family really started fighting over shares, Stephen would likely buy up the shares of other shareholders, ensuring Abigail had the advantage in the competition.

The Gibson Group was Wyattโ€™s legacy. If a battle over assets broke out, Abigail would definitely make sure his family wouldnโ€™t be destroyed by those despicable people.

Wyatt looked at Stephen with a bit more seriousness. Stephen appeared to be a simpleton, but he definitely had his own agendaโ€“he just didnโ€™t want to compete with Christian.

โ€œKeep your mouth shut,โ€ Wyatt warned, then poured Abigail a glass of water.

Abigail looked at Wyatt seriously. It seemed like both Sebastian and Wyatt were hiding something from her.
