โDrones arenโt cheap. Iโll pull their bank records,โ Stephen said. โChristianโs too. Iโll find out the truth for you.โ
Chapter 186
Christian snapped angrily, โWhy are you sucking up to Abigail and dragging me into this? I told you, I wouldnโt do such a thing.โ
โI donโt believe you. Iโm going to investigate you,โ Stephen replied.
Abigail stared coldly at Christian for a while before saying in a frigid tone, โYouโd better pray that Orangeโs death truly had nothing to do with you.โ
Stephen frowned, knowing Sebastianโs personality โ whoever killed Sebastianโs cat would definitely face terrifying retribution.
Christian scoffed, โItโs just a cat. Youโre talking like it was some sacred beingโฆโ
โYouโre the ones acting like beasts,โ Abigail cut him off. โHow dare you say such things? You think youโre nobler than a cat?โ
She continued, โYouโre just lucky to be born human. Thatโs the only reason you get to sneer at an innocent animal that did nothing but end up poisoned to death.โ
Christian was enraged, looking like he was ready to strike her. Stephen pointed at his face and warned, โYou dare hit her again? She wouldnโt say any of this if you hadnโt been spewing all that garbage.โ
โSo now everything she says is right, and Iโm trash?โ Christian retorted. โStephen, are you out of your mind? You regret the way you treated her, and now you think treating us like shit is going to make up for it?โ
Christian grew angrier seeing Stephen side with Abigail, and it didnโt help that Stephen had grown even colder toward Daniella.
โI have no regrets,โ Stephen shot back. โAbby is honest. Daniella is full of lies. She couldโve gotten along just fine with Abigail โ but I believe she killed Sebastianโs cat.โ
โBullshit! Do you have proof?โ Christian retorted anxiously. โYou know Sebastian always gets revenge. Youโre just slandering Dani to suck up to Abigail!โ
โSlandering?โ Stephen replied. โSebastian had that cat for three years. It was perfectly fine until Abby moved in. Just a few days later, the cat is dead?โ
He said, โI bet Daniella got jealous of Abigail being close to Sebastian and killed the cat, hoping to drive them apart. I know sheโs capable of that.โ
Stephen and Christian were at each otherโs throats. Abigail, listening from the side, suddenly felt it was all too possible.
Even if it wasnโt because of Sebastian, Daniella mightโve done it just because she couldnโt stand Abigail. Ever since Abigail returned to the Gibson family, Daniella had tried every way possible to torment her.
Ralph didnโt like Daniella, and Sebastian outright despised her. Now that even the Gibson family didnโt want her anymore, sheโd definitely want revenge.
Christian sneered, โLook at how you talk about her now. Back then, you treated her like a treasure.โ
Before Stephen could speak, Christian continued, โLet me guess โ youโre going to say she tricked you, right? Itโs always someone elseโs fault.โ
He said, โNow youโre suddenly defending Abigail because Ralph favors her, Sebastian protects her, and even Sebastianโs two friends care about her. Youโre just a greedy opportunist.โ
His words made Stephen tremble with fury. Heโd always believed heโd been manipulated by Daniella because he had treated her sincerely, like a sister.
โI deserved to be fooled. If Iโd had half a brain to see through her lies, I wouldnโt be regretting everything now,โ Stephen said, taking a deep breath to calm himself.
Abigail noticed that every time these arguments broke out, Daniella was never present. No matter how intense the chaos in the Gibson family became, Daniella would always vanish. Christian, just like Stephen once was, always defended her blindly.
Abigail wondered, โEven Stephen, Bianca, and Gabriel all saw Daniellaโs true nature โ why did Christian still treat her so well?โ
So she asked, โI honestly donโt understand how you can still treat Daniella like this. Even when the company was losing money year after year, you still wired her large sums of money without hesitation.โ
Stephenโs anger faded a little after hearing Abigailโs words. At least she was speaking up for him, whether or not that was her intent.
