Chapter 222
Daniella had caused quite a scene today, and there would probably be another dramatic showdown tonight.
Biancaโs eye injury turned out to be pretty serious.
When the workday ended, Abigail still had a mountain of work to finish. She decided to stay late at the officeโanything was better than going home to watch Gabriel deal with Daniella.
Timothy always liked being the last one to leave. Coming out of his office and spotting Abigail still at her desk, he immediately called out, โStop working overtime already. If you keep this up, Mr. Robinsonโs going to think Iโm running a sweatshop. Go home!โ
Abigail had zero interest in going home.
โCome on, donโt drag your feet,โ Timothy urged from his office doorway, โHurry up, I need to turn off the lights!โ
Left with no choice, Abigail reluctantly shut down her computer and packed up her things.
In the taxi, she decided to head to Sebastianโs place instead. That was when Wyatt called.
Abigail hit the answer button, but before she could speak, Wyattโs voice came through, โYou need to come back. The whole house is in chaos.โ
โThereโs no point in me coming back,โ Abigail said. โDaniella attacked Mrs. Gibson today.โ She had no interest in getting involved in the Gibson familyโs mess.
โI know,โ Wyatt said. โBut Gabrielโs about to beat Daniella to death. I canโt stop him. I think since youโll be running the Gibson family someday, you canโt let things fall apart like this. You need to be able to control them.โ
Abigail had zero interest in controlling anyone. She would never reconcile with the people in the Gibson family who had hurt her.
โGrandpa, the Gibsons brought this on themselves,โ she said. โWhether itโs Daniella getting beaten or the Gibsons doing the beating. If you canโt stand watching, call the police.โ
She respected Wyatt deeply, but she couldnโt fix the Gibson familyโs problems. Going back to help Daniella would make her sick. And condemning Daniella for Gabriel was even more impossible.
โAbby, if you donโt want to get involved, then I wonโt either,โ Wyatt said. He despised how Daniella had treated Abigail, but he was still an elder. At his age, seeing Daniella beaten so badly she could barely move tugged at his conscience.
But Abigailโs words were a wake-up call. He couldnโt solve the Gibson familyโs deep-rooted problems either. Fine. Let them tear each other apart.
After hanging up the phone, Abigail stared at the streetlights for a moment before deciding to head to Judyโs place.
Sheโd been racking her brain for ways to deal with the Gibson family, but now she realized she had the perfect weapon right in front of her. She shouldnโt need to go back and interfere.
When pushed to the extreme, things swing the other way. Step by step, theyโd forced Abigail to become patient and calculating.
And Daniella, the very person theyโd groomed, would eventually turn against them in a desperate fight. All Abigail needed to do was make sure Daniella didnโt leave the country.

When Abigail arrived at The Hearth Table, she skipped ordering food and went straight to Judyโs private room.
Judy came in shortly after.
โHere are the account books from the three years you were gone,โ Judy said gently, handing them over.
Whenever Abigail came to her room without eating, it meant she was there to review the accounts.
โAfter supporting the kids who are struggling, thereโs about 1.3 million dollars left,โ Judy explained in her soft voice.
Abigail nodded. โI need to withdraw around a million dollars. I have some things to take care of.โ
โWhy are you being so formal with me?โ Judy smiled as she knelt by the bed. She lifted the bedding and reached into the corner underneath, pulling out a bank card.
โThe PIN is your birthday,โ she said, handing it to Abigail.
Abigail never celebrated her actual birthday. The only date she acknowledged was when she first arrived at the orphanage. After returning to the Gibson family and gradually realizing they never truly cared for her, she stopped thinking of her birth date as special at all.
โJudy, Daniellaโs going through exactly what I went through back then,โ Abigail took the card and said softly.
โYouโve been at the orphanage longer than anyone else,โ Judy said. โBeth always said you were too beautiful and smart to let just anyone adopt you. She didnโt trust anyone else to take care of you, so she kept you here and raised you like her own daughter.โ
Judy continued, โYouโve been a role model for all the kids here. You study hard, youโre kind to every child who comes through these doors, and you treat them like family. But Daniella? Whateverโs happening to her now, she brought it on herself. Donโt go soft on her.โ
โIโm glad you said that.โ Abigail looked up with a smile of relief.
Sheโd been worried that Beth might disapprove if she found out how Abigail had been ignoring Daniellaโs troubles lately. But if Judy thought she was doing the right thing, then she wouldnโt feel guilty anymore.
โGo live your life freely. Donโt worry about me or what Beth thinks of you.โ Judy reached out and gently touched Abigailโs hair. โNo matter what you do to the Gibson family, youโll always be our good girl.โ
