Warren smiled innocently, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Really? I think I’m a good person.”

Abigail thought to herself that all bad people probably believed the same thing. But as far as she was concerned, Warren was definitely one of the good guys.

Even the relationship between humans and animals came down to fate.

They were making dinner together, but in reality, the three of them were doing all the work while Abigail stood around and contributed nothing.

“I’ve got some bad news,” Warren said while chopping onions, blinking rapidly as his eyes watered. He glanced at Abigail.

Abigail paused with her fruit cake halfway to her mouth. “What is it?”

“Christian was probably sold to a scam compound in Solmere,” Warren said seriously.

Abigail froze. Even James turned off the faucet and hurried over to hear more.

Sebastian kept cleaning the fish, just raising an eyebrow slightly without showing much curiosity.

“How did he end up in a place like that?” James asked, intrigued.

“Daniella used him up and then had her gang ship him off there for cash,” Warren explained. He thought Christian had it coming.

James clicked his tongue twice. “That Daniella is like a textbook villain. When she turns on someone, she really goes all out.”

Abigail stayed silent. As far as she was concerned, Christian deserved everything he got.

“Solmere is one of the toughest detention centers to get anyone out of. Even if you manage it, they might come out missing an arm or a leg,” Warren said with a laugh. “What goes around comes around.”

“We’ve been tracking where Daniella’s money went, but it’s still a mystery,” Sebastian said as he scraped the fish scales clean and set the fish on a plate. “Now it seems she probably moved her money overseas long ago. She planned much further ahead than we thought.”

“We can’t track it because she likely hid her identity and registered companies in tax havens,” James added. He’d already figured this out. “As long as she doesn’t go public with those companies, we’ll never trace her movements.”

“Considering how quickly she fled the country, she probably built her own network of people years ago,” Sebastian said calmly.

Abigail looked confused.

“There was a celebrity who pulled off a famous scheme like this,” James explained.

The celebrity had bought a house in Butaha to become a tax resident there. Then she registered a company in a low–tax jurisdiction to minimize her taxes.

After that, she set up three shell companies in different tax havens, layering them one inside another. In the end, she controlled the Butaha company through these shells and only paid taxes in the low–tax jurisdiction.

“She chose to register companies in these low–tax countries because they offer better privacy than other places,” Sebastian continued.

“She can even pay locals to act as proxy directors. That way, unless the company commits international financial crimes or the company goes public, it’s almost impossible to trace back to her.”

Abigail frowned at this revelation. “So we’ll never catch her? She can just stay free forever?”

“That’s how it works in theory,” James replied. “But think about how celebrities get exposed. There’s always someone on the inside who talks. As long as we keep watching and use our connections to dig deeper, we’ll find her eventually. It’s just a matter of time.”

“I see,” Abigail said. This was her first time learning about such complicated schemes.

“Don’t worry, we’ll help you track her.”

Abigail nodded.

“Do you think Christian will call the Gibsons for money?” James suddenly asked Warren.

“Once Daniella gets settled, the scam compound will probably force him to call home,” Warren explained, glancing at Abigail as he spoke.

“They’ll pressure the Gibson family to wire money over and over until they’ve drained everything from Gibson Group. When he’s no longer useful, they’ll ship him to another compound. Eventually, when he has no value left, they’ll harvest his organs and blood.”

Abigail knew how these scam operations worked. What shocked her was that Daniella could be so ruthless even to someone who had helped her.

“Compared to her, I’m too soft and hesitant,” Abigail said with a bitter smile.

“That’s because you’re a good person,” Warren said, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly. “She was capable of using your car to kill someone when you’d just turned eighteen, then mobilizing the entire Gibson family to frame you for it. That shows she’s probably rotten to the core.”

“Maybe her joining the Gibson family wasn’t a coincidence,” Sebastian said, his eyes darkening. “And maybe Abigail being abandoned wasn’t an accident either.”
