Chapter 256
โLetโs orderโIโm kinda hungry,โ Abigail said, not wanting to dwell on the topic any longer. As far as she was concerned, his explanation today was good enough.
โAlright. James actually stashed a piece of aged ham here three years ago. Itโs supposed to be super rare. Want to try it?โ Sebastian offered, as James had told him earlier.
Honestly, it was a prized piece James had gone to great lengths to get. After passing some to a few elders, heโd left the last piece at this restaurant, saving it for a special occasion.
But for his best friend, Sebastian, he didnโt hesitate to give it up.
โIf itโs that special, shouldnโt we share it? Maybe we can ask them to join us,โ Abigail suggested.
โIโll call and see if theyโre free," Sebastian pulled out his phone.
Abigail nodded. When James and Warren arrived, they were surprised to see the two of them looking completely fine.
โYou forgave him that easily?โ James asked with a smirk, clearly enjoying the drama as he sat down.
Sebastian had already switched seats and was now sitting beside Abigail, leaning back with the menu in hand, he turned to her and said, โItโs not like I did anything wrong, I came clean, didnโt I?"
โThat woman called you, then patched me in so Iโd hear everything, obviously hoping Iโd get mad. If I actually took the bait, wouldnโt that be exactly what she wanted?โ Abigail said.
Sebastian grinned. โI knew my girl would always have my back.โ
Abigail thought, With everything heโs done for me behind the scenes, how could I not stand by him?
โHe said on the phone that he was serious with every girl he dated. I mean, having exes isnโt unusual these days, but heโs clearly had a lot of 'serious' relationships,โ she said. Watching Sebastian gloat, she decided to scare him a little.
Sebastian immediately tightened his grip on the menu and cleared his throat. โThat was just to mess with Ida.โ
โWhatโs her deal? How is she related to your family?โ Abigail asked curiously.
โSheโs worked for the Robinson family for years. Basically climbed her way up from housekeeper to lady of the house,โ Sebastian replied.
He treated Ida politely, not because he respected her, but becauseโjust like Abigailโhe had zero expectations for the Robinson family. Nothing in his future had anything to do with them.
The problem was that the Robinson family didnโt see it that way.
โThen how does she have the nerve to look down on my background?โ Abigail asked directly.
โPeople forget where they come from. Thatโs just how they are,โ Sebastian said.
Abigail nodded in full agreement. Just then, Warren chimed in, โSo you forgave him even after he claimed to be serious with all those girls!โ
โAre you done?โ Sebastian swatted at him with the menu.
Warren laughed and ducked. โBack when you couldnโt win Abby over, we were worried for you. But now that youโve succeeded, weโre jealous it happened so fast.โ
Sebastian joked, โClassic. You canโt bear to see your best friend struggle, but also canโt stand him doing too well.โ
Abigail couldnโt help but burst into laughter. These three guys were just too hilarious.
โYou made Abby laugh,โ James teased from the side.
Abigail couldnโt hold back her smile. โYou guys are really something. The way you talk is hilarious.โ
โWeโve always been like this,โ Warren said with a grin. โBack when he was still single and chasing after you, it was a rough ride, we were all anxious for him. But now that heโs got you and acts all smug about it? Honestly, I canโt stand his face.โ
Abigail thought they were just too real.
Sebastian, keeping a straight face but clearly gloating on the inside, said, โDoesnโt matter if you canโt stand me. Go get yourself a girlfriend.โ
โI havenโt met anyone I really like yet,โ James said with a dramatic sigh. โAnd honestly? Watching you two go through so much just to be together makes love feel so sacred. If I just casually got into a relationship, wouldnโt that feel like a waste?โ
Sebastian looked at him, speechless. โAre you seriously turning love into a competition?โ
James waved him off. โItโs not a competition. Itโs just that if Iโm going to fall in love, it better be my first. And a first love should be earth-shattering, right? After seeing how much youโve done for Abby, if I settle for something less, itโll feel so lame.โ
