Chapter 331

Timothy approved Abigailโ€™s request. With no major project currently underway, granting leave wasnโ€™t an issue. Casually, he asked, โ€œOne day enough?โ€

โ€œYes, Mr. Newman. Thatโ€™ll be fine. Thanks,โ€ Abigail replied politely.

Timothy had reached the conference room by then. Hanging up, he spotted Jeremiah approaching from down the hall. Timothy greeted him, โ€œGood morning, Jeremiah.โ€

Jeremiah returned the smile, and the two of them looked clearly familiar. โ€œMr. Newman, good morning. By the way, is Abigail doing well?โ€

Timothy nodded and said, โ€œYes, sheโ€™s doing fine โ€“ though she took a leave today.โ€

Jeremiah paused, caught off guard. โ€œOh? Did something happen?โ€

Timothy stared back at Jeremiah, slightly puzzled. He wondered, โ€˜Isnโ€™t it her privacy? Should I ask?โ€™

He replied, โ€œShe didnโ€™t say. Just mentioned something personal.โ€

Meeting Timothyโ€™s surprised gaze and realizing heโ€™d asked too much, Jeremiah masked his discomfort, thinking, โ€œI wouldnโ€™t have pried if the CEO werenโ€™t so interested in Abigail.โ€

He nodded, โ€œI see. Go ahead. Iโ€™ll go to Mr. Robinsonโ€™s office.โ€

Jeremiah knocked gently on Sebastianโ€™s door.

โ€œCome in,โ€ Sebastianโ€™s voice rang out.

Entering the office, Jeremiah set the documents neatly on Sebastianโ€™s desk. Having worked closely with Sebastian for years, he knew his boss preferred directness. Thus, he spoke up, โ€œMr. Robinson, I ran into Timothy earlier. He mentioned Abigail took a leave today.โ€

Sebastian frowned slightly. โ€œTook a leave? For what?โ€

Jeremiah sighed inwardly, โ€œI knew heโ€™d askโ€ฆโ€

โ€œHe didnโ€™t specify, only that it was personal,โ€ replied Jeremiah.

Sebastian frowned and said, โ€œWell, you can go.โ€

Inside the CEOโ€™s office of Fletcher Group, Abigail sat idly browsing her phone. Nearby, a small pile of snacks and coffee cluttered the desk โ€“ delivered by Ralphโ€™s secretary a moment ago. Abigail had no idea what Ralph was planning, but she decided not to dwell on it.

Suddenly, a notification popped up on her screen. Abigail unconsciously straightened, surprised to see Sebastianโ€™s text: Why did you take a leave today?

Confusion flickered across her face as she wondered, โ€œWhy would Sebastian text me about this? Did Timothy tellโ€ฆโ€

Surely not!

After hesitating briefly, Abigail decided to reply. She explained how Ralph had practically dragged her away to his office.

Once the message was sent, Abigailโ€™s fingers nervously traced the screen. โ€œWill Sebastian actually come for me?โ€ she wondered but quickly dismissed the thought. โ€œWait, why would I even think Sebastian would bother coming!โ€

Frowning, she pushed the unsettling thought away.

Chapter 331

At Halden Group, Jackson stared at Sebastian in shock and asked to confirm, โ€œMr. Robinson, youโ€™re delaying it?โ€

Jackson was confused by his bossโ€™s sudden decision, since the meeting was scheduled.

โ€œYes, get Jeremiah here,โ€ Sebastian answered plainly but didnโ€™t explain why.

Jacksonโ€™s eyes darkened, jealousy flickering within him, but he kept his voice calm. โ€œYes, sir.โ€

Moments later, Jeremiah entered the office and said, โ€œMr. Robinson, Jackson said you were looking for me?โ€

Sebastian stood up. โ€œCome with me to Fletcher Group.โ€

Jeremiahโ€™s eyes widened as he wondered, โ€œWhy suddenly go to Fletcher Group? We have no business with them!โ€

Cautiously, he asked, โ€œMr. Robinson, should I bring any files?โ€ He wasnโ€™t sure if the two companies had any business interactions.

โ€œNo,โ€ Sebastian replied shortly. โ€œWeโ€™re picking someone up.โ€

Sebastian headed swiftly for the exit. Jeremiah hurried to follow, increasingly puzzled, but knew better than to question further.

As the elevator doors closed, Jackson emerged from around the corner, his expression looking extremely grim.

At Fletcher Group, a sudden knock interrupted the tense silence in the conference room.

Ralph glared coldly at his assistant, Reeve, who quickly moved to open the door. Outside stood a nervous secretary.

Reeve snapped, clearly irritated, โ€œDonโ€™t you know weโ€™re in a meeting?โ€

The secretary spoke timidly, โ€œReeve, Mr. Robinson from Halden Group is here to see Mr. Fletcher.โ€

Reeve paused, feeling startled. He signaled the secretary to wait and then returned to Ralphโ€™s side, relaying the message.

Ralphโ€™s eyebrows rose in surprise, and he wondered, โ€œFletcher Group has no dealings with Halden Group. What could Sebastian Robinson possibly want to talk about with me?โ€

Ralph asked, โ€œWhere is Mr. Robinson now?โ€

โ€œDownstairs,โ€ Reeve replied.

โ€œMeeting adjourned.โ€ Ralph considered for a second and stood up decisively. Reeve immediately followed Ralph.

Moments later, Ralph and Sebastian faced each other across a table.

Halden Group, a dark horse in the industry, had managed to rival the established Fletcher Group in just a few short years.

Rumor said that Halden Group was a subsidiary of Robinson Group, yet its strength was undeniable.

Ralph had also heard rumors about Sebastian, the CEO whose face was reportedly scarred. This was Ralphโ€™s first direct encounter with Sebastian.

โ€œMr. Robinson, itโ€™s a pleasure. Iโ€™m Ralph Fletcher. To what do I owe the honor of your visit?โ€ Ralph came directly to the point. He was genuinely puzzled. After all, their companies didnโ€™t do business at all.

Sebastianโ€™s voice was cool. โ€œMr. Fletcher, Iโ€™m here looking for someone.โ€

Surprise flickered across Ralphโ€™s face, his tone slightly amused. โ€œYou came to my company to find someone? Youโ€™re not serious, are you?โ€

Chapter 331

The tension in the meeting room gradually thickened.

Sebastianโ€™s eyes turned slightly grim, his voice lowering dangerously. โ€œDo I look like Iโ€™m joking, Mr. Fletcher?โ€

Ralph remained silent, but his skeptical gaze spoke volumes, as if saying, โ€œExactly.โ€

Their eyes locked in a silent, charged standoff. Jeremiah and Reeve exchanged a brief glance, sensed the brewing storm, and quickly looked away.
