Chapter 331
Timothy approved Abigailโs request. With no major project currently underway, granting leave wasnโt an issue. Casually, he asked, โOne day enough?โ
โYes, Mr. Newman. Thatโll be fine. Thanks,โ Abigail replied politely.
Timothy had reached the conference room by then. Hanging up, he spotted Jeremiah approaching from down the hall. Timothy greeted him, โGood morning, Jeremiah.โ
Jeremiah returned the smile, and the two of them looked clearly familiar. โMr. Newman, good morning. By the way, is Abigail doing well?โ
Timothy nodded and said, โYes, sheโs doing fine โ though she took a leave today.โ
Jeremiah paused, caught off guard. โOh? Did something happen?โ
Timothy stared back at Jeremiah, slightly puzzled. He wondered, โIsnโt it her privacy? Should I ask?โ
He replied, โShe didnโt say. Just mentioned something personal.โ
Meeting Timothyโs surprised gaze and realizing heโd asked too much, Jeremiah masked his discomfort, thinking, โI wouldnโt have pried if the CEO werenโt so interested in Abigail.โ
He nodded, โI see. Go ahead. Iโll go to Mr. Robinsonโs office.โ
Jeremiah knocked gently on Sebastianโs door.
โCome in,โ Sebastianโs voice rang out.
Entering the office, Jeremiah set the documents neatly on Sebastianโs desk. Having worked closely with Sebastian for years, he knew his boss preferred directness. Thus, he spoke up, โMr. Robinson, I ran into Timothy earlier. He mentioned Abigail took a leave today.โ
Sebastian frowned slightly. โTook a leave? For what?โ
Jeremiah sighed inwardly, โI knew heโd askโฆโ
โHe didnโt specify, only that it was personal,โ replied Jeremiah.
Sebastian frowned and said, โWell, you can go.โ
Inside the CEOโs office of Fletcher Group, Abigail sat idly browsing her phone. Nearby, a small pile of snacks and coffee cluttered the desk โ delivered by Ralphโs secretary a moment ago. Abigail had no idea what Ralph was planning, but she decided not to dwell on it.
Suddenly, a notification popped up on her screen. Abigail unconsciously straightened, surprised to see Sebastianโs text: Why did you take a leave today?
Confusion flickered across her face as she wondered, โWhy would Sebastian text me about this? Did Timothy tellโฆโ
Surely not!
After hesitating briefly, Abigail decided to reply. She explained how Ralph had practically dragged her away to his office.
Once the message was sent, Abigailโs fingers nervously traced the screen. โWill Sebastian actually come for me?โ she wondered but quickly dismissed the thought. โWait, why would I even think Sebastian would bother coming!โ
Frowning, she pushed the unsettling thought away.
Chapter 331
At Halden Group, Jackson stared at Sebastian in shock and asked to confirm, โMr. Robinson, youโre delaying it?โ
Jackson was confused by his bossโs sudden decision, since the meeting was scheduled.
โYes, get Jeremiah here,โ Sebastian answered plainly but didnโt explain why.
Jacksonโs eyes darkened, jealousy flickering within him, but he kept his voice calm. โYes, sir.โ
Moments later, Jeremiah entered the office and said, โMr. Robinson, Jackson said you were looking for me?โ
Sebastian stood up. โCome with me to Fletcher Group.โ
Jeremiahโs eyes widened as he wondered, โWhy suddenly go to Fletcher Group? We have no business with them!โ
Cautiously, he asked, โMr. Robinson, should I bring any files?โ He wasnโt sure if the two companies had any business interactions.
โNo,โ Sebastian replied shortly. โWeโre picking someone up.โ
Sebastian headed swiftly for the exit. Jeremiah hurried to follow, increasingly puzzled, but knew better than to question further.
As the elevator doors closed, Jackson emerged from around the corner, his expression looking extremely grim.
At Fletcher Group, a sudden knock interrupted the tense silence in the conference room.
Ralph glared coldly at his assistant, Reeve, who quickly moved to open the door. Outside stood a nervous secretary.
Reeve snapped, clearly irritated, โDonโt you know weโre in a meeting?โ
The secretary spoke timidly, โReeve, Mr. Robinson from Halden Group is here to see Mr. Fletcher.โ
Reeve paused, feeling startled. He signaled the secretary to wait and then returned to Ralphโs side, relaying the message.
Ralphโs eyebrows rose in surprise, and he wondered, โFletcher Group has no dealings with Halden Group. What could Sebastian Robinson possibly want to talk about with me?โ
Ralph asked, โWhere is Mr. Robinson now?โ
โDownstairs,โ Reeve replied.
โMeeting adjourned.โ Ralph considered for a second and stood up decisively. Reeve immediately followed Ralph.
Moments later, Ralph and Sebastian faced each other across a table.
Halden Group, a dark horse in the industry, had managed to rival the established Fletcher Group in just a few short years.
Rumor said that Halden Group was a subsidiary of Robinson Group, yet its strength was undeniable.
Ralph had also heard rumors about Sebastian, the CEO whose face was reportedly scarred. This was Ralphโs first direct encounter with Sebastian.
โMr. Robinson, itโs a pleasure. Iโm Ralph Fletcher. To what do I owe the honor of your visit?โ Ralph came directly to the point. He was genuinely puzzled. After all, their companies didnโt do business at all.
Sebastianโs voice was cool. โMr. Fletcher, Iโm here looking for someone.โ
Surprise flickered across Ralphโs face, his tone slightly amused. โYou came to my company to find someone? Youโre not serious, are you?โ
Chapter 331
The tension in the meeting room gradually thickened.
Sebastianโs eyes turned slightly grim, his voice lowering dangerously. โDo I look like Iโm joking, Mr. Fletcher?โ
Ralph remained silent, but his skeptical gaze spoke volumes, as if saying, โExactly.โ
Their eyes locked in a silent, charged standoff. Jeremiah and Reeve exchanged a brief glance, sensed the brewing storm, and quickly looked away.
