Chapter 85

Bianca immediately spoke up upon hearing Abigailโ€™s final words. Her voice trembled. โ€œAbby, donโ€™t say such things. Your father only approached your grandpa out of concern for the company. Weโ€™re family.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll keep quiet about what Daniella did three years ago,โ€ Abigail cut in, her gaze locked on Gabriel. Her voice was firm and unwavering. โ€œBut my condition is that I take my grandpa with me.โ€

This time, she wouldnโ€™t back down. If Gabriel refused, she would expose Daniellaโ€™s crime publicly.

Biancaโ€™s throat constricted. Recognizing Abigailโ€™s seriousness, she grasped her hand. โ€œAbby, try to understand your father. Heโ€“โ€

โ€œUnderstand what?โ€ Abigail wrenched free. โ€œThat I should let Daniella destroy my reputation while covering her tracks or help her get back on her feet at Halden Group?โ€

Her words left Bianca speechless.

โ€œWyatt stays with us. You want to leave? Fine, go ahead,โ€ Gabriel barked. He refused to let Wyatt go. There was no way Abigail could possibly expose the hit-and-run now. It had been three years already. What proof could she even have?

โ€œThen enjoy the scandal Iโ€™ll unleash tomorrow. Iโ€™ll give you tonight to think it over.โ€ With that, Abigail turned and walked away.

The hallway fell into silence. Gabrielโ€™s face turned livid with anger. โ€œHow dare she! I shouldโ€™ve never let her come back. Then all this wouldnโ€™t have happened.โ€

โ€œCall Ralph,โ€ Bianca whispered to the silent Stephen. โ€œAsk him to come tomorrow and talk to Abby. Weโ€™re family. Thereโ€™s no need for things to get this bad.โ€

Stephen glanced at Gabriel, who gave no sign of objection, and simply nodded.

The night air cooled Abigailโ€™s fury as she exited the hospital. The Gibson family had a gift for weaponizing guilt until she lost her temper.

After several steadying breaths, she pulled out her phone, thumb hovering over Clarkโ€™s contact. She hesitated, biting her lower lip.

Abigail felt ashamed to bother him again, especially after everything heโ€™d already done for her. But Wyattโ€™s current situation weighed heavily on her heart. That was why she lost control earlier tonight.

Wyatt was the only real family she had left. Pride couldnโ€™t outweigh his safety. She couldnโ€™t leave him with the Gibson family. If anything irreversible happened, she couldnโ€™t bear the result at all.

When Abigail was lost in thought, Jeremiahโ€™s voice startled her. โ€œAbigail?โ€

Abigail looked up at him, quickly slipping her phone into her pocket. โ€œJeremiah? Why are you here? Are you unwell?โ€

Jeremiah smiled, โ€œMr. Robinson overdid it at a client dinner nearby. Iโ€™m grabbing stomach meds. What about you?โ€

โ€œMy grandpa was just admitted to intensive care,โ€ Abigail answered honestly.

Jeremiah frowned with concern, โ€œThat sounds serious. Do you need me to arrange better specialists?โ€

Abigail hesitated, โ€œWould that be possible? The situation right now is a bit complicated.โ€

โ€œI'm grabbing these meds. Come with me and explain the situation, and Iโ€™ll get his approval. He could possibly help you with that,โ€ Jeremiah nodded toward the parking lot.

Abigail showed reluctance. โ€œBothering Mr. Robinson again?โ€

She thought, โ€˜I already asked for his help yesterday, and now Iโ€™m bothering him again. Will he think Iโ€™m a nuisance?โ€˜

Jeremiah paused at the car door and looked at her. โ€œIf you want top-tier care for your grandpa, Mr. Robinsonโ€™s involvement is the surest way.โ€

Thinking of Wyatt, Abigail nodded.

As she approached, the interior light revealed Sebastian slumped in the backseat. His eyes were closed, and his head was slightly lowered. The dim streetlamp glow carved his sharp profile, making him look unapproachable.

As soon as Jeremiah opened the door, he reported, โ€œMr. Robinson, I ran into Ms. Gibson at the hospital entrance. Sheโ€™s in a bind.โ€

Abigail stood stiffly by the door as Sebastian glanced at her. โ€œMr. Robinson.โ€

Sebastian gave a low hum in response, stretching slightly against the seat. His voice was slightly hoarse. โ€œWhat bind?โ€

Jeremiah got in the car and handed Sebastian a pill, gesturing to Abigail. โ€œGet in. Explain on the way.โ€

Abigail slid onto the seat, but soon, she shifted closer to the door, trying to keep as much distance as possible between herself and Sebastian. โ€œMy grandpa is in the ICU, but my family barred me from seeing him. I need him transferred.โ€
