Chapter 90
James immediately stood up and said, "Someone's here. You guys keep going."
He didnโt know about Abigailโs conflict with the Gibson family. He walked to the door and saw a gentle-looking, pretty girl there. Assuming she was someone Abigail had called specifically to celebrate Sebastianโs birthday, he let her in.
Daniella walked into the private room and saw all the wealthy people inside. She unconsciously clenched her hands and said to James, who looked friendly, "Thank you."
James pointed at Abigail and said, "Your sister is over there. Go sit with her."
Daniella looked over and saw Abigail sitting next to Sebastian, and the two of them looked intimate. A flash of jealousy crossed her eyes.
Because of Halden Group, Abigail had gotten so close to Sebastian so quickly and was even out socializing with him. No wonder Ralph got ignored by Abigail nowโsheโd clearly latched onto the more powerful Sebastian.
Daniella suppressed her hatred and walked over. When everyoneโs attention was on the cards, she spoke up, "Abby, the whole familyโs been looking everywhere for you. I didnโt expect you to be here."
Abigailโs hands froze. She instinctively looked at Daniella, the ease on her face replaced by irritation in an instant.
Daniella stepped forward and grabbed her hand, instantly putting on a pitiful cry. "Abby, I even took my antidepressants before coming today. That photo of you and Mr. Newman wasnโt faked by me. Claudia was jealous heโd become a manager at the end of the year, so she used my phone to do it. She set me upโI have proof. Just believe me this once, okay?"
Sheโd deliberately worn light makeup today, and now as she cried, her nose and the corners of her eyes turned red, making her look incredibly pitiful.
Sebastian turned to James, whoโd frozen in shock, and said, "Why didnโt you tell me someone else was coming?"
"Uh, she said she was Abigailโs sister. I thought youโd invited her to celebrate your birthday," James said, and his internal alarm blared instantly. Abigailโs icy expression and Sebastianโs near-anger both indicated heโd messed up.
"You surely get your information. You can find me wherever I am," Abigail said coldly, tossing her cards onto the coffee table. She stood up and looked at Daniella. "Weโre not familiar. Please leave me alone."
Daniella gripped her hand tighter and said humbly, "Mom hasnโt slept in three daysโshe keeps calling your name every day. Youโve been so cruel to me, but I donโt blame you, though Iโm innocent. I know youโre just too angry."
Her words effectively painted Abigail as the villain, especially since she looked so pitiful while Abigail remained cold.
Abigail shook off her hand. Daniella lost her balance, hit the coffee table, and fell onto the sofa.
Daniella let out a cry of pain, covering her leg and bursting into tears. Instead of getting up, she reached for Abigailโs hand. "Do you really need me to kneel before youโll believe me?"
Annoyed by her constant chatter, Sebastian suddenly slammed his dice box onto the coffee table. "Then just stay on your knees. Why are you crying all around and ruining my birthday party?"
Daniella jumped in fright. Sheโd humbled herself, assuming the men here, especially Sebastian, known for being polite and chivalrous to women, would pity her.
She didnโt believe heโd keep being nice to Abigail after seeing how "vicious" she was to her own little sister. Besides, Daniella was confident she was prettier than Abigail and better at arousing menโs sympathy.
James snapped out of it and hauled her up from the floor. "What do you think youโre doing? Save your tears for when someone in your family dies. Get out now!"
Daniella hit her leg on the coffee table again, barely able to stand, but James showed no mercy, dragging her toward the door. "Get out of here. If you keep yelling again, donโt blame me for hitting you."
Just then, a waiter opened the door. A man standing at the entrance heard his words and forcefully shoved the door.
James nearly got hit in the nose by the door and cursed angrily, "Canโt you see someone is standing here?" After yelling, he couldnโt help thinking, โWhoโs bold enough to cause trouble at Sebastianโs party?โ
The man whoโd pushed the door pulled Daniella behind him to protect her.
At the same time, Abigail heard a familiar angry shout. "Youโre heartless. Dani begged me repeatedly to bring her here to apologize, and this is how you treat her? Get out of here right now."
