Chapter 98

Abigail felt a bit dry, but his arm made her feel warm. She remembered when she was first taken from the orphanage to the Gibson family by Bianca, the hired scout who had then smitten her. Later, in the Gibson family, she did see her brothers dotingโ€”but it was at Kot Cantette.

โ€œOkay.โ€ She bit her lip lightly and said gratefully, โ€œI havenโ€™t even asked your name yet.โ€

Sebastian unconsciously shot a cold glance at the squinting, smiling man.

โ€œUh, my name is Warren Judson,โ€ the man said.

Then, Abigail turned to check what fruits were on the food table. James winked at Warren, and the two led the others away.

โ€œHungry?โ€ Sebastian walked to her side, his usual casual voice taking on a touch of warmth.

โ€œA bit. I get hungry easily when Iโ€™m busy,โ€ Abigail replied, reaching for a plate. But Sebastian was quickerโ€”he picked one up and handed it to her.

As Abigail took it and looked at him, she realized how close they were standing. He was turned slightly, and if she shifted even a little, it would feel like she was stepping into his arms.

Noticing her daze, Sebastian raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lip curving into a faint smile. โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong?โ€

โ€œNothing.โ€ Abigail averted her gaze and quietly stepped back a little, forcing herself to focus on the food.

โ€œDonโ€™t eat too much fruit. The appetizers will be served soon,โ€ Sebastian stood beside her and reminded her.

Abigail picked some green grapes, skewered one, and put it in her mouth. She bit down gently, and the juice instantly filled her mouth. The sweet and cool grapes quickly cooled her restlessness.

She ate several in a row and noticed Sebastian was still beside her, seemingly watching her eat.

Feeling nervous, she said with a slightly hoarse voice, โ€œThese green grapes are quite sweet. Want to try one?โ€

โ€œSure,โ€ Sebastian said, skewered a grape from her plate, and put it in his mouth. He tasted the overly cloying sweetness of the grape for his palate.

โ€œThereโ€™s indeed a strong fruity aroma. By the way, Iโ€™ve reviewed the chip data. For its use in medical robots, what other undeveloped functions can be explored?โ€ he said.

When it came to work, Abigailโ€™s nervousness faded, and she immediately focused. โ€œFor the basic human body scanning function, I think it can be enhanced. Adding a few more scanning lenses might help.โ€

โ€œGo on,โ€ Sebastian leaned against the dining table and tilted his head to look at the serious-faced girl beside him.

She said, โ€œMy idea is to scan the tongue, eyes, and overall human condition, conduct real-time image capture, and connect with an emergency disease database.

โ€œOnce the robot detects a patient in critical condition, they can be prioritized into an emergency treatment channel, allowing authoritative experts to provide timely treatment directly,โ€ Abigail said slowly, biting into a piece of fruit.

Sebastian fell into thought. After a moment, he spoke again. โ€œWhat if the machine isnโ€™t accurate? Data is just theory, and human illnesses are ever-changing. Inaccurate treatment will increase medical pressure, which conflicts with our original philosophy.โ€

โ€œTimely innovation and sharing of the database are very necessary. Of course, I know each hospital has its own profit targets, so sharing databases is hard to achieve. But healthcare should prioritize peopleโ€™s health.

Abigail thought so much because of Wyattโ€™s illness. In the future, many people would stay single until old age. Once medical robots became popular, a function to call hospital emergency numbers could be added. This way, even elderly people living alone could get timely hospital aid.

โ€œIโ€™ll consider what you said. But you have to quit eating fruit for now and come play cards with us,โ€ Sebastian said, walking toward James, and Abigail hurried to follow him. As they approached the card table, Sebastian suddenly asked her, โ€œDo you like Warren?โ€

Abigail was taken aback, then quickly explained, โ€œI treat them all as friends.โ€ Warren was more like a brother to her. Sebastian didnโ€™t respond.

Abigail knew someone like Sebastian might mind such things after all, theyโ€™d met through work. So she added, โ€œHeโ€™s like a brother, and James is also good to me. Is it okay for me to be friends with them?โ€

She had always been self-aware, knowing she had a criminal record and a humble background. Being friends with them did feel like reaching above her station.
