Chapter 108: I Am Your Father
George was livid. A few months ago, after signing off, he had noticed something amiss on the approval form and discreetly placed it in his book as a bookmark. However, his negligence had brought about endless complications. While flipping through the pages of the book, Caleb accidentally stumbled upon this very piece of paper. Seizing the opportunity during a brief distraction, he quickly tucked it back into the book. George hadn’t anticipated what would come next. He waved his hand, allowing Caleb to take the book with him.
Once Caleb returned to his room, he gathered the documents he had salvaged from the trash bin and started practicing the signature on them every single day. As a child, Caleb had secretly tried to mimic George’s handwriting. Now, reproducing it came effortlessly. Within just a few days, he had mastered it almost flawlessly. That very day, while signing papers in the study, Caleb effortlessly penned George’s name with a few swift strokes. With calculated precision, he shielded George’s watchful eyes, even managing to deceive him into shaking his hand. The thought of Caleb’s smug satisfaction at that moment made George grind his teeth in fury.
I wasn’t wrong. Caleb is indeed full of cunning schemes. A few days without discipline, and his boldness has soared to unimaginable heights.
“Fine, you’ve known all along, haven’t you? And yet, these past few days you’ve been pretending everything’s normal, showing us care and concern!”
“Isn’t that exactly what you all do? If I treat you the way you’ve treated me, what’s so wrong about that?” Fury surged in George as blood-red veins surfaced in his eyes, giving him a truly menacing appearance. “Bullsh*t! I’m your father! For twenty years, you’ve been living off me, using what’s mine, and now you’re trying to trick me into signing a heart donation agreement! Is my well-being so intolerable to you?”
Caleb replied indifferently, “You’re absolutely right. I’d relish nothing more than seeing the Quixall family bankrupt and left to rot in the streets.”
George’s face flushed crimson, and his breathing quickened in anger. In that moment of distraction, Caleb decisively seized George’s hand and forced it onto the agreement. Right after “George Quixall,” a vivid red handprint appeared, left deliberately by George himself.
Chapter 108: I Am Your Father
“I gave you a chance, but you didn’t cherish it.”
If everyone wanted me gone, then I’d drag them down to hell with me! If I couldn’t make it out alive, the Quixall family wouldn’t know peace either!
The glaring crimson imprint only added fuel to George’s mounting rage. Without hesitation, he turned and struck Caleb across the face.
“You ungrateful brat! Today, I’ll put an end to you, and your heart will become a gift to my own son!”
He’s just an outsider. No matter how long the family has cared for him, his ingratitude remains unchanged! Extend even the smallest kindness to him, and he’ll see it as an opportunity to assert control over the Quixall family. He’s unaware that there’s always someone superior, and countless possibilities beyond his understanding. When villains make mistakes, the law holds them accountable. But when a child strays, it’s the father’s responsibility to correct them!
George yanked off his belt and struck Caleb with relentless force. He had long lost track of how many times this had happened. In the past, he had whipped Caleb’s back until it was soaked in fresh blood, staining his clothes a gruesome red. Now, with his belt in hand, he was determined to beat Caleb until he could no longer breathe.
Caleb wasn’t incapable of fighting back. Yet, despite George’s cruelty, Caleb couldn’t bring himself to retaliate against the man who had raised him for twenty years. It wasn’t just the fear of being labeled unfilial; his own heart couldn’t bear the thought. But tolerance didn’t inspire reflection in oppressors; it only emboldened them to become even more ruthless.
This time, George was after his life. He had managed to survive the prison, and it certainly wasn’t so he could end up dead in the streets. Swallowing his anger, Caleb grabbed hold of George’s belt.
“Mr. Quixall, are you interested in experiencing what this belt feels like?”
