Chapter 119: It Is Nothing
Humiliated before the entire Quixall family, Gianna felt she’d endured a lifetime’s worth of shame in mere minutes. Finally seizing the awl from beneath the guard’s foot, she didn’t hesitate and drove its point straight through her hand! A servant shrieked, covering their mouth in horror. They’d assumed a pampered heiress like Gianna would never harm herself. Yet here she was, committing the act with terrifying resolve. By this point, they started to feel a tinge of fear.
Regardless, Gianna was Phillip’s biological daughter, unlike Caleb, who was an illegitimate child. If Gianna were to return and tell Phillip about what she had experienced here, what retribution might await them? The crowd dispersed hastily, no longer daring to spectate.
Gripping her bleeding hand, Gianna lifted her chin. “Satisfied? I’ve met your terms. When will you come to the hospital to donate your blood?”
Raquel’s expression darkened. “Met my terms? Did you manage to do what I asked earlier, to completely pierce your hand with the awl?” She strutted over, her high heels accentuating her commanding presence. Before Gianna could react, Raquel stomped on her impaled hand! A bone-deep pain coursed through Gianna’s entire body, causing her to break out in a cold sweat.
“Ra…quel…you…”
Arms crossed, Raquel sneered. “A gutter rat who slept with Caleb deserves no right to address me.”
Hatred simmered in Gianna’s eyes as she spat, “Karma will find you, Raquel.”
Raquel remained unbothered. “Karma? If karma truly exists, then your family should be the first to suffer.”
Raquel couldn’t comprehend why Gianna harbored such resentment toward her. They used to be the best of friends, sharing every little detail and discussing every topic together. Had Caleb truly destroyed everything? She couldn’t understand it.
“So you’re saying, you don’t want to go to the hospital with me for the blood transfusion?” When Gianna uttered these words, her voice held eerie calm, as if finally seeing clearly.
“Hmph, from the very start, I never intended to agree with you. It was you who shamelessly clung to me. If I didn’t teach you a lesson, how would you ever learn to leave?” Raquel flashed a disdainful smirk, as if mocking Gianna for overestimating herself.
“Ha! I knew it.” Gianna gave a nod and stood up. The awl was still protruding grotesquely from her hand, the blood glaring. As Raquel watched her leave, she felt strangely unsettled.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
“None of your concern. If you won’t help, I’ll find someone who will.”
Gianna walked out of the Quixall residence without looking back. After crossing a small path, the main road lay ahead. Just a few more steps and Gianna would be able to see the bustling crowd of passersby. However, unexpectedly, someone called out to her.
“Ms. Sherman, the wound on your hand…” The newcomer cast a surprised glance at the awl embedded in the back of Gianna’s hand.
“Oh… it’s nothing,” Gianna replied, her expression unreadable as she hid her hands behind her back. “Ms. Yardley, what are you doing here at the…?”
Chelsea flashed a smile. “I’m here to talk to Mr. Caleb…”
