Chapter 177: Misjudging Her

Caleb’s voice dropped low, but his fury burned through every word. “I’m going to make sure she loses everything!”

She didn’t just hurt me. She hurt the person who saved my life, and I won’t let that slide.

Chelsea quickly caught up to him. “I’ll go with you.”

But Caleb shook his head firmly. “No, Ms. Yardley. I might not walk away clean this time. There’s no need to get you involved.”

Chelsea paused, caught off guard by the intensity in his voice. But then she gave a small nod. “All right. You go. I’ll stay here and keep watch over Ms. Sherman.”

Without another word, Caleb turned and left.

Norman, watching him go, murmured with concern, “Mr. Sherman, do you think he’s going to stir up trouble?”

Phillip was worried too, but he masked his concern and said with feigned indifference, “Let him. He owes Gia that much.”

She hasn’t even woken up yet. No matter how bad things get, it can’t possibly be worse than this. Let’s see just how far Caleb is willing to go for her.

Caleb strode out of the hospital, intending to hail a cab straight to the Quixall residence. But the moment he reached the entrance, his gaze caught on a familiar red Porsche parked by the curb.

The door swung open, and Raquel stepped out, just as surprised to see him. “Caleb? You’re here too?”

From what she’d heard, Caleb had been rushed to the ER a few days ago. After an intense rescue effort, he’d only just regained consciousness. He should’ve still been in bed, recovering. So what’s he doing out here, walking around like nothing happened?

Suppressing the storm rising in his chest, Caleb asked coldly, “What brings you here, Raquel?”

She blinked, then answered with practiced ease, “What else? I came to visit my best friend.”

Best friend? The gall. I’m surprised she actually has the nerve to show her face here. Caleb almost laughed.

Fury ignited, Caleb didn’t waste a single word. He slammed his fist directly into Raquel’s cheek.

She stumbled back, stunned. “How dare you hit me!” she shrieked.

Caleb’s lips curled into a cold smirk. “Why wouldn’t I dare?”

Back when they were together, he couldn’t even raise his voice to her. Now, just looking at her face made his stomach turn.

How the hell did I ever fall for someone like her? Loving her had been the biggest mistake of my life.

Raquel clutched her cheek. “Caleb, you hit me over Gianna? Do you even know who she really is?”

In this world, aside from the Quixalls, could anyone be more vile than Raquel? She doesn’t reflect on her own twisted actions and yet has the audacity to slander others. Shameless.

Raquel scoffed, unfazed. “Gianna might act like some delicate heiress, but she’s nothing more than a… Do you even know how many men that hand of hers—the one she touched you with—has been all over? She’s constantly wrapped around different men, spending nights on end—”

Before she could finish, Caleb struck her again, fiercer than before.

A sharp sting bloomed across her face, and an indescribable feeling overwhelmed her. “You believe her? After everything we’ve shared? I’m the one who’s been by your side the longest!”

Caleb’s expression didn’t budge. “That doesn’t change the fact that you’re evil.”

In the past, Caleb had misjudged Gianna, and now he was determined to make amends for that mistake.

As he waved his fist again, a firm hand suddenly gripped his wrist.

“Caleb, you’re a grown man. Don’t you feel ashamed for picking on a woman?”
