Chapter 220: Seeing the One I Like

Upon reaching the entrance of the karaoke lounge, Casey noticed a woman setting up a stall by the door. There was a heap of fresh flowers spread out, yet nestled within the bouquet at the center was a small kitten. It was a tuxedo cat, looking to be around a month old. Its fur was a stark contrast of black and white; its face was still tiny and not fully grown. When it looked up, its gaze was so endearing it could melt anyone’s heart.

“Hey, miss, this little kitten was just born to its mother. Since we can’t keep so many cats at home, I thought I’d bring it out to find someone who could adopt it,” the woman said.

The woman selling flowers appeared to be in her thirties or forties. Her voice was soft, and she had a very approachable demeanor.

Casey hesitated for a moment before asking, “How much does it cost?” She had always wanted to adopt a kitten, but the fear of ending up with a sick or dying one held her back. Therefore, the current opportunity felt just right.

The woman responded, “No need for money. All that matters is that you’re willing to adopt it.”

Casey found herself somewhat smitten. Coming across each other felt like fate, especially considering this little kitten didn’t cost a thing. Just in case, she still decided to ask, “Before me, didn’t anyone want to adopt it?”

The woman lowered her head in distress. “No… they merely praised it a couple of times before they left. Nobody wanted it.”

Such a pity… Upon looking into the kitten’s dewy eyes, Casey was overwhelmed by her urge to take it in. “Give it to me. I assure you, I will take good care of it.”

The woman chuckled and nodded. “Yes, I can see that. Miss, you truly have a heart full of compassion.”

Casey, her cheeks flushed from the words, picked up the kitten and prepared to leave. However, the woman called out to her.

“Miss, are you off to see someone special? Young folks these days are quite kind, you know. If you’re looking to build a deeper connection with him, co-raising a kitten together could be a great idea.”

Casey cocked her head. Co-raising a kitten together? Me… and Jesse? Would it be too abrupt to just walk in holding a cat?

After some whispered instructions, Casey contentedly walked away, cradling a bouquet of flowers in her arms. I’m sure Jesse would never have imagined that I would give such a uniquely thoughtful gift. This time, I will outshine all his biggest fans!

She stepped into the private room her friend had mentioned. Taking a deep breath, she strived to calm her racing heart.

Knock… Knock…

“Come in.”

As soon as she walked through the door, Casey saw Jesse holding a microphone, looking as handsome as he did in the pictures she’d seen online.

“Um… Um…” Her heart was pounding wildly, and she found herself unable to speak. What on earth is happening to me? Spit it out already! This is a God-given opportunity!

Before she could speak, Jesse interjected, “You must be Casey. I’ve actually prepared a gift for our meeting in advance.” He picked up a beautifully wrapped box from the couch and handed it over. “Here. This is a gift I’ve carefully chosen for you. Remember, you must only open it after you get home, okay?” As he spoke, he playfully winked.

Casey felt like her cheeks were about to explode from her intense blushing. She stuttered, “Th… thank… you…”

Jesse smiled. “Don’t mention it! I hope you’ll continue to support me in the future. My success depends on all of you!”

“Boo…” Tears welled up in Casey’s eyes as she unexpectedly began to cry, crouching down on the ground. Jesse instantly found himself at a loss. “What’s wrong? Did I upset you?”
