Revenge Forged in Prison
Chapter 251: Is This Woman Insane?
Chelsea was intelligent and charming, continuously bringing fresh surprises to Miriam. Finally, at a victory celebration, Chelsea reignited Miriam’s interest in her once again with a captivating magic show. From then on, Chelsea truly became the untouchable heiress of the Yardley family.
Miriam was the type to always crave novelty and quickly grow tired of the old. Her moods were remarkably unstable, often resulting in unpredictable bursts of anger. To take a minor incident as an example, one day, at the ungodly hour of three in the morning, Miriam started persistently knocking on Chelsea’s door.
With sleep still lingering in her eyes, Chelsea, her hair in disarray, went to open the door. Miriam scrutinized her daughter from head to toe, eventually letting out an ambiguous, soft chuckle.
“Chelsea, your hair is a mess. Let me help you comb it, okay?”
The comb gently swept through the lustrous black hair, occasionally stirring a few disobedient strands. At the beginning, Miriam’s actions were incredibly gentle, which Chelsea greatly enjoyed. With her eyes half-closed, she was on the verge of falling asleep.
However, as the combing went on, Miriam inexplicably grew agitated.
“What a lousy comb. It’s not good to use at all!”
She hurled the comb with all her might, and it struck the edge of the vanity table. The broken teeth of the wooden comb grazed Chelsea’s neck, sending a faint sting through her.
Noticing the change in Chelsea’s demeanor, Miriam immediately expressed her concern, “Sweetheart, did you get hurt? Let me soothe it for you.”
With that, Miriam blew gently on the wound, the wind stirring the remaining strands of hair around Chelsea’s neck. A strong scent, a mix of fish and onions, assaulted Chelsea’s nostrils, almost making her want to vomit.
Fortunately, Chelsea was naturally gifted with remarkable composure, which kept her from revealing her disgust on her face. Otherwise, if her change of expression was noticed by Miriam, she would certainly suffer drastic consequences.
“Thanks, Mom. It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
Chelsea displayed a sweet smile, which brought great delight to Miriam. In the past, the children who used to visit the Yardley residence would inexplicably feel a sense of… toward her. Only Chelsea would reveal such an innocent and adorable smile to her. Indeed, she was destined to be Chelsea’s mother.
Chapter 251: Is This Woman Insane?
Reflecting on Perry’s subservient demeanor, then looking at Yelena’s justified confidence, Chelsea couldn’t help but feel a wave of emotion. The once-haughty Perry probably never imagined that the young mistress he both respected and detested had now become someone others could easily manipulate.
Chelsea cast a disdainful glance at Yelena.
“Ms. Quixall, because of you, the Quixall family has forever lost the privilege to enter the prestigious Wropland Club. Good luck fending for yourself.”
There was no need for Yelena to seek out Miriam anymore. Upon hearing the news, George, who could arrive at any moment, was prepared to “welcome” her, giving her a taste of thunderous fury.
Chelsea, along with Casey and Caleb, departed from the scene. Her steps were slow yet deliberate, exuding an air of nobility that was characteristic of a lady from a prestigious family. It gave off an aura of unapproachability that left people feeling she was out of their league.
Before leaving, Casey gave Yelena a look filled with complex emotions.
Is this woman crazy? How dare she openly challenge Chelsea?
Thinking back to her experiences at the Yardley residence, a chill ran down Casey’s spine, causing her to shudder involuntarily. The goosebumps sprouted up like mushrooms after a spring rain.
She and Caleb sequentially got into Chelsea’s car. Chelsea took the passenger seat while they both sat in the back. The awkwardness was so palpable it felt as if the air itself had solidified.
