Chapter 269 As Long As You Are By My Side

Caleb hesitated. “The agreement was in the house I rented, but the fire there was so intense. I’m guessing it’s been burned to ashes by now.”

Chelsea reassured him, “Don’t worry about that. I’ve already contacted your landlord. Someone will be bringing the agreement over soon. Once it arrives, just take a picture and post it on your account. That’ll give you solid proof.”

Rental agreements were typically made in duplicate. Even if Caleb’s copy had been destroyed, there was still a copy with the landlord. All he needed to do was post the document and prove its authenticity. Once that was done, Jesse’s lies would unravel on their own.

A renowned celebrity caught lying about something like this? No one would trust him again.

This was just the first step. As more evidence surfaced, the carefully crafted persona that Jesse had built would begin to crumble, leaving him with no room for redemption.

Caleb hesitated for a moment. He had already developed a deep disdain for the internet. Creating an account under his real name on a public platform would only invite a flood of abuse, something he wasn’t eager to face.

Despite knowing that Chelsea’s plan was sound, he still felt reluctant.

Chelsea gave his shoulder a reassuring pat. “Caleb, you don’t have to be so stressed. If it makes you more comfortable, I can arrange for the contract to be sent under a friend’s name. That way, you won’t have to face the attacks head-on.”

A heavy silence settled between them. Caleb’s mind raced, his inner turmoil overwhelming.

It wasn’t fear of confrontation that held him back, but the thought of a relentless barrage of malice. He wasn’t sure he could withstand the pressure without breaking.

Chelsea had already done so much for him. To give up now would mean he’d be betraying not only her efforts but also his own sense of integrity.

With a determined look, he lifted his head and said, “All right, I’ll do it. I can handle this. Ms. Yardley, I can’t keep accepting your help without standing up for myself. I’m an adult, and I take responsibility for my actions. I won’t shift the blame onto others.”

His resolute tone and unwavering gaze left Casey in awe. He’s actually going to face those negative comments head-on!

If the internet were its own world, then the trolls would be the relentless enemies lurking on the other side. Not everyone had the courage to stand up and fight against such a vast, faceless force. Caleb’s decision to take them on set him apart from the majority who would cower in fear or hesitate in the face of backlash.

This was more than just an online argument; it was a battle for the common man. Once he stepped onto this path, there would be no turning back.

Others, too, were moved by Caleb’s resolve, especially Seiren. Of all those present, she had spent the most time by Caleb’s side and had witnessed firsthand the injustices he had endured at the hands of the Quixall family.

He had once believed that leaving the Quixall family would finally grant him the freedom he so desperately sought. But instead, the barrage of online criticism followed him like an unshakable shadow, trapping him in a life of endless scrutiny from which there was no escape.

At that moment, as he vowed to confront the netizens head-on, he was like a prisoner shattering his chains, breaking free with sheer determination and running toward an open, limitless horizon.

Though the air was still, Seiren felt as if a gust of wind had swept dust into her eyes, blurring her vision and causing her to tear up.

“Mr. Caleb… You’re so strong…” Seiren’s voice quivered through her sobs, her tears streaming down her cheeks.

Caleb’s heart softened. “This is nothing. As long as you’re by my side, I can face anything.”
