Chapter 106: Are You Sure?

Elsa adopted her most remorseful expression. "Jane, I know I was wrong. I'm here to apologize for what happened today. As long as you forgive me, I'll leave immediately."

Jane raised an eyebrow. "And how exactly do you expect me to forgive you?"

Elsa's eyes lit up, anticipating Jane's response. She lifted her glass of red wine, offering it. "This is a rare vintage from the host's private collection. A friend helped me acquire it, and I thought you might enjoy it. If you drink it, that means you forgive me. And I promise, I won't bother you again tonight."

She blinked, affecting an air of innocent naiveté.

Jane reached for the glass, then stopped, noticing the glint in Elsa's eyes. She subtly changed direction, pretending to adjust her necklace.

However, Elsa's outstretched hand couldn't be stopped. The red wine spilled across her face, the dark liquid trickling down her neck and staining her pristine white dress. Under the soft glow of the evening lights, it resembled blooming crimson.

Before Jane could react, Elsa's friend rushed over, dabbing at the stain with a handkerchief. "Elsa was already apologizing! What more do you want? Do you have any idea how much this dress costs? It's a designer piece!"

After scolding Jane, she turned back to Elsa with concern. "I told you I should have come with you, but you wouldn't listen. See what happened?" She glared at Jane for good measure.

Jane glanced at Elsa, who looked fragile and pitiful. A scoff escaped her lips. "If she'd brought you along, she wouldn't have been able to spill it, would she?"

Elsa averted her gaze, appearing on the verge of fainting. Her friend, however, remained oblivious to the subtext. Lifting her chin, she declared, "Of course! If I were here, you wouldn't have even had the chance to bully her!"

Jane's gaze shifted between the two. For a brief moment, her thoughts drifted to her past life. A similar scene unfolded then—Jeremiah at a banquet. Elsa had taken Jane's evening gown, leaving her with an ill-fitting replacement. Near the end, Elsa approached with a glass of red wine, feigning an apology. Just as Jane accepted it, Elsa dumped the wine on herself. Her pitiful expression swayed the onlookers; Jeremiah abandoned Jane, carrying Elsa away.

Now, with a second chance, Jane wouldn't be so gullible. The moment Elsa offered the wine, she knew the plan.

Levi shifted in the shadows, as if to intervene, but Jane subtly shook her head, returning her attention to the unfolding drama. Several guests had noticed the commotion and were watching.

"Are you sure I spilled it?" Jane's voice was quiet but audible enough for Elsa to hear.

Elsa wiped away tears, her pale face buried in her friend's embrace. "Jane, I already apologized. If you really want to punish me, then fine. But do it at home. You're the one who said we should maintain our family's reputation in public, but now…"

With that, she painted Jane as the villain. She implied Jane bullied her privately while feigning kindness publicly.

Jane remained silent, watching the crowd gather. A satisfied smile touched her lips. "Are you sure," she said, taking a step closer, her voice slow and precise, "that I was the one who spilled it on you?"

"Who else could it be?" Elsa's friend chimed in again.

Jane laughed softly. "No worries. I'm sure someone saw exactly what happened."

She clapped her hands. Levi emerged from the shadows, adjusting his camera with a smirk.
