Chapter 110: Levi's Appearance
Ma parted my hand, her voice filled with concern. "That didn't say anything bad. She just mentioned a few things… bad things. We were just worried you might be taking the wrong path. Of course, it's best if that's not the case."
I understood their concern. They had always respected my decision to start my own business without interfering. To ease their worries, I said softly, "Did I tell you I went with Eric?"
Upon hearing Eric's name, Mom and Dad's expressions immediately brightened, their earlier worries dissipating. "Oh, if it's Eric, that's a different story. He's really looking out for you?"
Mom pulled me close, her curiosity barely contained. "Did he buy you that evening gown, too?"
I nodded, not bothering to hide the truth.
When they heard this, Dad seemed pleased, but Jack just scoffed in disbelief. "You're not even divorced yet, and you've already flirting with other men? How shameless can you be?"
Unfazed, I pointed to Elsa, who stood behind Jack. "Some people seduce married men, cause countless scandals, and still aren't embarrassed. Why should I feel ashamed?"
I smiled and locked eyes with Jack. "Some people pretend to be siblings while secretly harboring feelings for each other and don't feel embarrassed either. Why should I?"
The two of them immediately fell silent, their expressions darkening. Elsa looked like she was about to burst into tears as her hands clutched Jack's sleeve.
"Jane, I swear there's nothing between me and Jeremiah. Jack only sees me as his sister."
The moment she spoke, I noticed the brief tension in Jack's expression before he froze. She quickly and subtly grabbed his hand.
I couldn't help but admire her ability to navigate between two men without any pressure.
Seemingly revived by Elsa's support, Jack stood protectively behind her like an eagle guarding its prey. He said, "Elsa was slandered by you. Without Eric, you probably wouldn't even know how to start a business!"
In that one sentence, he dismissed all my efforts. "Even without Eric, Jane would have succeeded in starting her business," Eric's voice came from the doorway. I looked up, and both Eric and Levi were standing there.
"Sorry to bother you, Mr. and Mrs. Brown. We were waiting outside, and it got a bit cold, so we thought we'd come in to warm up. I hope you don't mind."
The moment they saw Eric, Dad and Mom's eyes lit up; of course, they didn't mind. They hurriedly invited Eric and Levi to sit and exchanged curious glances with me.
I caught their looks and quickly introduced them, saying, "Mom, Dad, this is Levi Swift, one of my business partners and my junior from university."
Levi greeted them politely, his demeanor a stark contrast to his usual carefree attitude. "Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Brown."
After greeting them, Levi glanced at Jack and Elsa before continuing, "I've been working overseas for a while now, and I'm the founder of Lunatila. I've returned this time to help develop Lunatila in Caldera."
Levi spoke seriously, worried that his words might influence my parents' judgment of me.
Upon hearing this, my parents nodded in understanding. Although they weren't familiar with foreign fashion brands, they had heard of Lunatila.
On the other hand, Jack and Elsa looked completely shocked.
"You're the founder of Lunatila?" Elsa exclaimed. Earlier at the banquet, Levi had introduced himself more than once to others. But at the time, Elsa was too focused on plotting against me to pay any attention.
