Chapter 64 Asking Her to Make Me a Cup of Tea
I snorted coldly. “You didn’t believe me then, and you don’t want to fulfill your promise now. Do you have a problem keeping your word?”
Elsa said nothing but deliberately wiped her eyes. Jack immediately sprang to her defense.
“If you have a problem, take it out on me. Why insult Elsa? She’s only trying to help you, and instead of being grateful, you’re scolding your own sister. Jane, don’t you feel bad at all?”
I raised an eyebrow, giving Jack a pointed look. “Yeah, I guess you don’t feel bad either, or how else could you insult your biological sister for a non-blood relative?”
Seeing the tension, Dad quickly intervened. “Alright, enough, you three. Stop arguing.”
He shot Jack a disapproving glance. “This is your fault. Even if you didn’t believe Jane, why did you try to suppress her? Apologize to her now!”
With Dad’s intervention, Jack, though displeased, reluctantly gave in. “I can apologize, but she has to apologize to Elsa first. Elsa shouldn’t have been involved. Why should she be subjected to such humiliation?”
I was amazed by his love for Elsa. He couldn’t even take care of himself, yet he was still defending her. It was touching.
I sighed softly, then a thought occurred to me. I turned to Elsa with a playful smile. “You’re seeing this, right? Jack’s doing all this for you. Don’t you think you should show a little gratitude? You don’t have to apologize to me. If you just make me a cup of tea, we can call it even. What do you think?”
Elsa feigned nervousness, as though I were a monster. “Jane, if I make you a cup of tea, will you really forgive me?”
The smile at the corners of my mouth deepened. “Of course, I’m serious. We’re family, after all!”
Elsa bit her lip, clearly unsure.
Jack grew more frustrated. “Jane, don’t go too far. How can you treat Elsa like a maid? If you want tea, can’t you make it yourself?”
Dad also hesitated. “Jae, maybe you should let it go. Elsa is your sister. If you ask her to make tea, what will the maids think? How will Elsa stand her ground in this house?”
I smiled but didn’t respond, focusing on Elsa.
Knowing her character, I knew she couldn’t wait to show off her kindness, so she’d agree.
Sure enough, after a few seconds of silence, she reluctantly stood up, looking as if she had no choice.
“If you want tea, I should naturally make it for you. Even if you treat me like a maid, it doesn’t matter.”
Jack grew even more enraged. He wanted to say something, but I’d already reached for the mug. Just as my fingers brushed the edge, Elsa trembled, and the hot tea splashed out.
In the next second, she screamed in pain, clutching her scalded hand, staring at me in disbelief.
The smile on my lips widened.
I knew she would pretend to accidentally spill the tea and burn me, so I moved just in time. The tea splashed onto her hand.
She reaped what she sowed.
