What's going on? What exploded? Meghan panicked and hid behind Samson. Samson brushed eggshell and sparks from his body. His face showed panic, but he comforted Meghan with a pat on the back. "Don't worry," he said. "The eggs exploded. Everything's okay now."
Meghan was surprised. "How did the eggs explode?!"
Samson replied, "I recall that eggs shouldn't be heated in the microwave, or they might explode. I didn't expect them to explode when we heated them over the fire."
Annoyed, Meghan stamped her feet. "Those four eggs were supposed to be our lunch! Now they've exploded. What should we eat?"
Samson looked unhappy. Meghan glared at Jolene. "Why didn't you remind us? You were born in the countryside. You must know this! Did you deliberately not tell us so I'd have nothing to eat?"
Jolene shook her head vigorously. "No! I didn't mean to withhold information. I didn't know the eggs would explode"
Meghan didn't believe her. "Do you think I'll believe you? How can you, a peasant, not know such common sense?"
Jolene said, "I've never roasted an egg before. I really don't know. Besides, life in the countryside isn't as rural as it once was. It's not necessary for people born there to engage in farm work."
Jolene explained that her family pampered her and seldom let her do farm work. Her parents emphasized her studies. She only lived in the countryside until junior high school. To ensure a better education, her parents moved the family to the city. As a result, she didn't know much about rural life.
Meghan said angrily, "How dare you talk back to me?" Jolene fell silent.
Meghan said impatiently, "Due to your negligence, Sam and I have no lunch. Go to the forest and find food for us. Don't return if you can't find anything!"
Jolene panicked. "Am I going alone? I'm scared!"
Meghan retorted, "Don't play the sympathy card! You were born in the countryside. How can you be scared of the forest? Don't think you can fool me! Are you pretending to be scared so Sam will go with you?"
Jolene denied it. Meghan sneered, "Stop daydreaming. Who do you think you are to seduce my brother? You're not even fit to be a housekeeper in our family. Know your place!"
Jolene, trembling with anger, denied seducing Samson. Meghan said, "If you have no intention of seducing Sam, then go into the forest and find food by yourself. Prove yourself with actions."
Jolene bit her lip and walked into the forest alone, tears in her eyes. "Humph! Do you think you can fool me!" Meghan snorted.
Samson stared at Meghan in disbelief. He couldn't recognize her. Is this mean and unruly Meghan my gentle and sensible sister? He thought she'd always been wayward and spoiled, but now she constantly threw tantrums.
"Meghan, why did you become like this? Jolene is a girl. It's not safe for her to go into the forest alone. You shouldn't force her," Samson frowned.
Meghan pouted, her eyes reddening. "Sam, are you lecturing me for an outsider?"
Samson replied, "What you did was wrong. It's my responsibility as your brother to correct you. Don't see it as a lecture. I'm only trying to help."
Meghan burst into tears, recounting her hardships: being left in a shabby place, covered in mosquito bites, her face swollen from being beaten by Evangeline, a chipped tooth, sleeping on the grass, and going hungry. She explained her bad mood led to her outburst, but Samson lectured her instead of caring.
Seeing her tears, Samson panicked, wiping them away. "I'm sorry. Stop crying. You're always right. It's the production team's fault. They were wrong." He promised to help her get revenge, especially on Evangeline.
Meghan threw herself into his arms. "Okay. You must keep your word. Forget the others. Don't spare Evangeline!"
Samson said firmly, "Of course, I'll make Evangeline pay the price." Meghan's eyes became vicious. (Evangeline, I'll make your life a living hell!) she thought.
(Ugh, I'm so angry! Why is Meghan so terrible! If something happens to Jolene, wouldn't she be held accountable?) a netizen commented. Other comments questioned Samson's gullibility and loyalty to his family.
Four hours passed. Jolene returned with only two eggs. Meghan cursed, snatched the eggs, and gave one to Samson. Samson, remembering the earlier incident, cooked the eggs carefully on a heated slate.
After eating, Meghan was still hungry and angrily questioned the production team's delay. Samson agreed they had gone too far.
Meghan smelled Evangeline's cooking and, jealous, suggested they go look.
Evangeline was cooking fish – a large carp. The aroma attracted birds and squirrels. She noticed Samson, Meghan, and Jolene watching her. She ignored them and continued cooking.
After finishing her meal, Samson asked to share, but Evangeline bluntly refused, stating they weren't family. Samson offered to pay, but Evangeline demanded 2 billion dollars each. Meghan and Samson were furious at the exorbitant price.
