Listen to this chapter:

Evangeline and Deori spent five days in Nandor. During that time, Deori received a large sum of money—compensation for betting on Evangeline's win. Dexter, who bet a billion dollars on her at odds of 33 to 1, earned 110 billion dollars. However, he wasn't the only one who bet on Evangeline; total bets on her win exceeded 20 billion dollars. Therefore, the bankers owed over 700 billion dollars in compensation.

Fortunately, those who bet on Evangeline were Clusian. Their currency held less value, preventing catastrophic losses for those who lost. More than 30 wealthy investor-bankers were involved. While their combined assets nearly covered the debt, a guarantee bank would handle any shortfall by seizing assets and, under the terms of a contract, potentially enslaving the debtors and their families.

Dexter contacted the intermediary bank, negotiating reduced compensation and offering to manage the debt collection independently, bypassing the bank's harsher measures. The wealthy men had signed contracts agreeing to such terms. These contracts, while illegal in Clusia, were legally binding elsewhere.

Beyond the large bets placed by wealthy individuals like Dexter, many Evangeline fans placed smaller wagers, initially doubting her victory. Some invested thousands of dollars, others tens of thousands, boosting her popularity. These fans received their winnings, a 35-fold increase, excitedly sharing their good fortune online.

After receiving his winnings, Dexter gave Evangeline a bank card containing the enormous sum. Confused, Evangeline protested, but Dexter insisted she deserved the money due to her hard work. Evangeline ultimately accepted, acknowledging Dexter's newfound generosity. Dexter, however, countered that he had always been kind.

The narrative then shifts to Evangeline's reaction to her newfound wealth, her refusal to be listed among the world's richest due to the risks of exposure, and the considerable, unpublicized wealth of many individuals. She mentions the Johnson family, who donate billions annually to scientific research, yet remain unlisted on the Global Rich List. Evangeline proposes to Dexter that he manage the money, distributing it as needed. He agrees.

Evangeline then declares her readiness for revenge against those who wronged them. Dexter arranges a private plane, and they travel to a remote island where his assistants await. Upon arrival, Evangeline encounters a large white tiger, brought for her use as transportation on the island, which is conspicuously afraid of Dexter, despite his claims of kindness toward it. The tiger's vocalizations suggest a different account of their relationship.

Evangeline and Dexter set out to confront their enemies. During the journey, Dexter falls, injuring himself. One of Dexter's assistants, Scott, suggests that he ride the tiger for support, rather than walk. Evangeline offers to walk, but Scott insists Dexter is too weak to ride alone.
