Evangeline nodded. "Well, since we invited them, we should make sure they have a good time."
"They lost all the games yesterday because they were uncooperative. Wasn't there supposed to be a punishment?" Dexter helped Evangeline sit down. "Do you have any suggestions?"
Evangeline pondered. "We shouldn't make the punishment too harsh, or they'll be hurt and unable to continue playing. A lighter punishment will suffice, to make a point." Dexter nodded. "Got it. Coincidentally, I had some steel needles brought here. These needles have mechanisms that activate upon insertion, causing numerous tiny spikes to emerge and secure them in place. Scott, arrange the punishment."
Scott immediately instructed the bodyguards to proceed. When the punishment ended, everyone collapsed. Their feet were so painful they couldn't stand.
Dexter smiled, turning to Evangeline. "Do you have any ideas on what you want them to do next?"
Evangeline, visibly annoyed, said, "They're filthy and stinking. It's disgusting. I don't want to waste my time on these people. Just end it quickly."
Dexter nodded. "Okay. John, Hasan, and Presley will handle the others, then we'll deal with them. How does that sound?"
Those three had primarily led the bullying of Naomi, devising the cruel methods; they deserved harsher treatment. Evangeline agreed. Dexter gave the orders. John, Presley, and Hasan's eyes lit up; they saw a chance at survival.
The three knelt, looking up at the seated Evangeline and Dexter. John trembled. "If we do what you say, will you let us go?"
Evangeline sneered, thinking, They're so gullible. She smiled faintly. "That depends on your performance. Do well, and I might consider it." John's eyes lit up with hope.
"I'll make sure you're satisfied. You must keep your word!"
Evangeline let out a mocking sneer. Desperate, John made excuses. "Evangeline, I know you want revenge for your sister. I participated, but I was goaded by them! I was forced. They're the ones who truly harmed her. I'll torture them as they tortured her! Please, considering my apology—"
Hasan quickly followed suit. "I was forced! I never intended to harm your sister. They're the culprits!"
Presley added, "Evangeline, I was coerced! I regret it and will punish them. Please spare my life!"
Evangeline looked at them coldly. "Stop talking and begin."
The three, enduring the pain in their feet, quickly stood. Many had been killed the previous day. Besides John, Hasan, and Presley, only twelve remained—and they were furious. The three, along with others, had devised the original plans; the others had merely agreed and contributed some ideas. Now, the three were shamelessly shifting blame.
"John, you were leading the charge! Most ideas came from you three. How dare you blame us?"
"Some methods were too cruel! But you said the more brutal, the more the gamblers would pay!"
"Evangeline, don't believe their lies! They're the culprits! We were accomplices!"
Evangeline remained indifferent. Fearing Evangeline's judgment, John, Presley, and Hasan rushed to silence the others.
The twelve fought back, using only their hands and teeth. John, despite his size, was overpowered by four. His body was scratched and bloodied. One person created a wound on his arm, dug into it, and tore it open.
John screamed in agony. He struggled violently but couldn't break free. They relentlessly created and tore open new wounds.
Hasan and Presley fared no better, each held down by four. Initially punched, they too suffered the same brutal treatment. Someone pulled a steel needle from Hasan's toe and began scraping him.
"Let me go! It hurts!" Hasan screamed.
The person laughed viciously. "You despicable bastard! You came up with the cruelest ideas, and now you shift the blame? You deserve to die! You liked perverse games, didn't you? Now you'll experience them!"
