Revenge Of The Rogue Heiress

Listen to this chapter:

Evangeline landed on all fours and crawled rapidly. She moved in a straight line, sometimes sideways. She stuck out her tongue, let out a villainous laugh, and the monkeys, terrified, were unable to escape. All were captured and beaten so severely they couldn't stand, their heads spinning. Dozens collapsed in a heap, creating a dramatic scene.

Evangeline stood up, her face impassive. "Remember," she said, "this is the consequence of easily trusting humans!" The speechless monkeys groaned pitifully, thinking this "upright monkey" was terrifyingly quick to turn hostile. Evangeline ignored their resentful stares and walked away, leaving them to watch her depart.

The audience reacted lively:

  • "This is so funny. Evangeline lets the monkeys witness human cruelty so they won't approach humans in the future, preventing harm from those with sinister intentions."
  • "I understand Evangeline's intentions, but her method is too cruel"
  • "I'm scared watching this on screen, let alone the monkeys!"
  • "The way Evangeline crawled looked like a monster."
  • "She smiled like a maniac, too."
  • "I'm worried about Evangeline's mental state."

When Evangeline returned to the river, she saw the production team's cruise ship docked. The staff were setting up cameras to follow Meghan and others, who were grilling food. A burnt smell hung in the air; a thick layer of charred food coated the grills. Meghan and the others, instead of cleaning the grills, piled more food onto the residue, resulting in terribly cooked food.

When Meghan saw Evangeline, she smiled sweetly and greeted her, ignoring past grievances. "Evangeline, you're finally back! The production team brought ingredients. Let's have a barbecue tonight. You didn't help prepare, so you're grilling. Fair division of labor—no accusations of slacking!"

She thought, Evangeline bullied me. By greeting her nicely, the audience will praise my generosity and pity me, boosting my popularity.

Slap!

Evangeline slapped Meghan.

"Ah!" Meghan screamed, looking at Evangeline with angry sadness. "Evangeline, I invited you kindly! Why did you hit me? Even if you didn't accept my kindness, you can't do that!" Samson rushed over, pulling Meghan behind him. He glared fiercely, warning furiously, "Evangeline, if you bully Meghan again, don't blame me for punishing you!"

Slap!

Evangeline slapped Samson.

"I warned you," she said slowly, "we're no longer siblings. Don't mention our relationship publicly. You make me sick."

"You!" Samson shouted, his face red with anger. "How dare you! Since you don't want us to be siblings, I won't hesitate!" He continued, "You attacked Meghan on camera. We have evidence, and I'll sue you! I tried giving you a chance, but you're stubborn. No more chances!"

Evangeline replied, "You two had mosquitoes on your faces. I was killing them." She showed her palm, displaying two dead mosquitoes—mosquitoes she had swatted from the air and onto their faces, not from their faces directly.

Samson raged, "Even if there were, why not shoo them away? Did you have to slap us?"

"I like the sound of slapping," Evangeline answered.

Samson and Meghan were speechless, furious. They knew she'd done it deliberately.

Biting her lip, Meghan said, "Evangeline, though you hit and scold me, I don't blame you. Apologize, and I'll forgive you and persuade Sam to do the same."

Evangeline smiled faintly. "Oh my, you're so kind."

Meghan continued, "I've been taught kindness since childhood. Our parents and brother taught me well. Evangeline, if you listened to them, you'd be like me."

Samson said contemptuously, "People are born as they are. Meghan is kind; Evangeline's evil is inherent. She can't change."

Meghan said disappointedly, "That's too bad. I want to make Evangeline a better person."

Evangeline, done acting, kicked them away. "Don't get in my way!"

Meghan and Samson fell to the ground. Evangeline stepped over them, deliberately stepping harder on Meghan.

Edward had forced Evangeline to bully Meghan for seven days. It was the last day, so Evangeline intended to make up for lost time. She thought, Look how dedicated I am to playing a vicious woman! She also bullied Samson, considering it a bonus. She hoped sarcastically they wouldn't be too touched by her "generosity."

"My hand is going to break! Evangeline, get off me!" Meghan screamed in pain.

Evangeline stepped over her slowly. "I told you not to get in the way. You insisted, so I walked over you. Why blame me?"

Samson shouted, "Don't you know how to walk around?"

"I don't like to," Evangeline replied.

Samson wanted to explode, but the cameras prevented him from saying anything harsh. He could only glare.

Meghan, enduring the pain, said in a trembling voice, "Sam, I'm sorry. Evangeline hates me for you protecting me. That's why she targeted you, too. I'm sorry."

Samson gritted his teeth. "You're not to blame. If it weren't for her vicious heart, she wouldn't have done this!"

Meghan bit her lip, aggrieved. Her body hurt, but her mind was full of joy. The more Evangeline targeted her, the more attention the show would get, boosting Meghan's popularity. She believed she'd become an A-list celebrity after this show, while Evangeline's career would be ruined. Meghan decided to let Evangeline struggle for a few more days.

The audience commented:

  • "Meghan is so disgusting. She's pretending to be arrogant again in front of the cameras!"
  • "Meghan, the bitch, is so pretentious. If she used her acting skills right, she wouldn't receive complaints about her terrible acting."
  • "Let Meghan and Samson die already. Their morals are disgusting!"
  • "I think Evangeline is being soft. She should break their mouths. I feel sick listening to them!"
  • "Just let them continue acting. Let's see what they do back in the city tomorrow!"
  • "It's the last day. Let's hang in there!"
  • "I'm looking forward to their reaction when they find out the truth!"
  • "Mr. Fowler must let us see their reactions!"

Back at the shooting location, Evangeline had built a fire. She wouldn't eat the ruined food the production team had brought. The monkeys had given her plenty of game, which she needed to cook before it spoiled.

She started a fire, then butchered two wild hares by the river. Once the meat was prepared, there was ample charcoal for roasting. The roasting hares filled the air with a delicious aroma, making everyone hungry. Evangeline shared some with the cameraman, who was flattered. She noticed him, and the other staff, looking at her strangely. She felt they were constantly staring, but didn't care and ate her meat calmly.

Since Evangeline's return, Jolene, Travis, and Kendrick hadn't approached or looked at her. She guessed they were colluding with Meghan and Samson, but didn't care. She’d given them food earlier out of excess and as a reward, but considered them enemies now.

After eating, Evangeline found a secluded spot and lay down to admire the starry sky. It was likely her last night under such a beautiful sky.

The online viewership that night remained above 100 million. The audience was reluctant to leave, unsure of the team's departure time or when the truth would be revealed, fearing they’d miss something. Others were too excited to sleep.
