Edward withdrew his gaze, his expression turning cold. He turned and looked at the young woman in the back seat of his car. Her name was Pamela Lynch, a celebrity. Pamela and Evangeline, who had once starred together in several films, had a bitter feud. In short, Pamela pushed Evangeline into the water, and Evangeline slapped her. Pamela's face swelled for days, preventing her from filming, and she was replaced. Enraged, Pamela went on a Twitter tirade against Evangeline for a month, later continuing to speak sarcastically about her. Their animosity was public knowledge.

"Are you ready?" Edward asked in a deep voice.

Pamela's face went deathly white. Trembling, she whispered, "Mr. Gallagher, can we… do this another way? Please, try other means. I beg you! I don't want to die…" She dissolved into tears.

Edward's face darkened. "With Evangeline's current fame, what other way is there to bring her down once and for all?"

Pamela bit her lip, unable to answer.

Edward continued, his voice deep, "I won't force you. I respect your decision. However, if you refuse, I won't fulfill my end of the bargain."

Panicked, Pamela cried, "No! Mr. Gallagher, you can't go back on your word! You promised to arrange for my mother's treatment abroad. She'll die if her treatment is delayed. You can't break your promise!"

"It's up to you whether your mother is saved," Edward replied.

Pamela, her face impassive, clenched her fists. Her father and grandparents had always favored sons. After Pamela's birth, her father abused her mother because she was a girl. As a child, her grandmother repeatedly took her to dangerous places. Her mother, unable to endure the abuse, ran away with Pamela. Uneducated, she worked hard, but years of strenuous labor in the factory led to pneumoconiosis and other illnesses. Her mother's conditions were incurable domestically; treatment abroad was their only hope. Pamela lacked the connections and money to secure this treatment. Previously, Meghan had paid for her mother's hospitalization, but in return, she had demanded Pamela sabotage Evangeline, which resulted in Pamela pushing Evangeline into the water during a shoot. After Meghan's mishap on the show "Jungle Survival," she stopped providing financial support. A few days earlier, Pamela contacted Edward, hoping to borrow money for her mother's medical bills. He gave her an advance. The previous night, he contacted her again, claiming he'd found a medical team and offered to cover all expenses if she performed a favor—a favor that required sacrificing her life. He didn't force her, but Pamela felt she had no choice. Her mother had sacrificed so much for her.

"Mr. Gallagher, you must promise you'll cure my mother and give her enough money to live comfortably in her old age," Pamela pleaded.

"Mm. As long as you help me get rid of that irritating Evangeline, I won't break my promise. Your mother will live luxuriously," he reassured her.

Pamela wiped away her tears. A photo arrived on her phone—Evangeline entering a private room. Pamela saved the photo and deleted the message. Then, she tweeted: "I didn't expect to run into this wretched Evangeline of all places. What an unfortunate coincidence! It's time to teach her a lesson of a lifetime!" She had few followers; few would take notice, as she frequently vented about Evangeline on Twitter.

Afterward, Pamela put away her phone, left the car, and entered the hotel. Meanwhile, Evangeline, Arthur, and their group dined in a private room on the 18th floor, enjoying a bottle of red wine. A waitress spilled wine on Evangeline's dress.

"I'm so sorry!" the waitress stammered.

Hugo scolded her, "Are you a greenhorn? You can't even serve wine properly?" Arthur demanded to see the manager.

Evangeline calmly said, "Some drying will do. There's no need to make a fuss."

The waitress, relieved, offered to take her clothes to the hotel's lounge for cleaning. Evangeline went to the restroom, changed into a bathrobe, and waited. Ten minutes later, her dry-cleaned clothes were returned. She put them on and returned to the private room.

At the corner of a corridor, Pamela lunged at Evangeline with a knife. Evangeline reacted swiftly, kicking Pamela to the ground. Pamela, dropping the knife, smiled bitterly. She then fled down the corridor, toward an open balcony. Evangeline tried to stop her, but Pamela jumped from the 18th floor.

Evangeline watched in horror as Pamela hit the ground, blood spreading rapidly. People screamed and scattered. Someone took a picture of Evangeline standing on the balcony.

News of Pamela's death trended quickly on Twitter, along with Pamela's tweet about confronting Evangeline and a photo of Evangeline on the balcony. The internet erupted with speculation: Was Evangeline responsible?

Many blamed Evangeline, while others cautioned against jumping to conclusions. Superb Entertainment, Pamela's agency, tweeted a statement expressing grief, asserting Pamela wouldn't have taken her own life, highlighting her ambition and devotion to her mother, and emphasizing the impossibility of her falling from the balcony's high guardrail. They called for a fair and impartial police investigation.
