Listen to this chapter:

Bethany laughed hysterically and stormed out. Meghan panicked. The matter between her and George absolutely could not be revealed—at least, not yet. If revealed, she would be too embarrassed to face anyone.

"Mom, don't be impulsive! You can't reveal this! You'll ruin Dad and the entire Gallagher family!" Meghan ran after Bethany, trying to stop her.

"Go away, you filthy thing! Don't touch me!" Bethany pushed Meghan away angrily. Meghan stumbled into a nearby cabinet, her body trembling.

George strode over, gloomily pulling Bethany back forcefully and slapping her.

Slap!

Bethany fell onto the couch, covering her swollen face. She looked desperate. George shouted sternly, "Calm down! Don't forget who's supported you for decades. You're a parasite, eating my food, living in my house, spending my money—all provided by me! What right do you have to fight with me? I've let you enjoy thirty years of happiness. If you can't show gratitude, fine, but trying to ruin me over this trivial matter… you really don't know what's good for you! You're the most ungrateful person in this family!"

Bethany stared blankly, trembling with anger. She hadn't expected this from George. Before marrying him, her family had been wealthy, giving her $200 million before she joined the Gallaghers. Although their business later failed and they went bankrupt, they never asked for the money back. Most of what she'd spent was her own.

Samson intervened angrily, "Dad, how can you talk to Mom like that? She's your wife!"

George roared, "She wants to ruin me! What kind of couple is this?"

Samson said, "That's because you were wrong first—"

"Unfaithful son! When is it your turn to lecture me?" George interrupted angrily.

Edward said sullenly, "All right. Shut up. This can't be exposed."

George looked satisfied. "Eddie's sensible." Bethany glared at Edward.

Edward met her gaze, saying in a low voice, "Mom, we're a family. We stand or fall together. Remember what happened with Meghan? The whole family became a laughingstock. Even the business suffered."

He continued, "If this incident is exposed, it won't just be Dad and Meghan's reputations tarnished. We'll all be scorned and mocked. Our family business will be devastated. None of us will be able to hold our heads up high again."

Bethany finally calmed down. George and Meghan deserved to die, but her three sons couldn't be ruined.

George helped Meghan to the couch. Looking at Bethany, he murmured, "As long as you don't cause trouble, I won't divorce you. You'll still be the lady of the Gallagher family. We can continue as before. You and Meghan can keep each other company. Don't worry about Meghan marrying and leaving; it's a good thing. Weren't you always worried about her getting married? Reluctant to let her go? Now there's no such concern."

Bethany held her breath, wanting to tear George's face apart. This was good for him, the old pervert, but not for her! She felt only bad luck and anger.

Edward said in a low voice, "Dad, do you know why we knew about this and returned now?"

George frowned, confused. Meghan looked at Edward with similar confusion.

Edward explained, "Evangeline set up a group chat and video call, showing us the livestream. That's how we found out."

"What?" George was shocked and furious. "How did that rebellious girl get it on camera? Wasn't she arrested? Did she break out of jail and sneak back into the Gallagher residence, hiding in my study?"

He was furious. It was Evangeline who had embarrassed him in front of his sons. He'd only maintained his composure to uphold his family's dignity.

Meghan clenched her fists, gloomy. Evangeline, that bitch again! I'll get revenge for this embarrassment! she thought.

Edward said, "The footage was probably from outside a window. She was likely hiding there. But I checked just now, and she's gone. However, she might still be watching us from somewhere."

Everyone's faces darkened. A mocking chuckle came from upstairs.

"Wow, quite a show! My trip wasn't in vain," Evangeline said.

Hearing the familiar voice, everyone looked toward the stairs. A black figure slid down the banister and landed gracefully. She approached them calmly, wearing a hat and mask, but instantly recognizable. It was Evangeline.

"You ingrate! How dare you come back?" George scolded angrily. "You've turned the whole place upside down! You're a scourge!"

Evangeline kicked George away. "Shut your mouth, or I'll beat you to a pulp!" she roared. She then kicked Meghan, Edward, Samson, and Bethany off the couch, seating herself leisurely. Leaning back, legs crossed, she smirked, "What's your status? Want to sit with me, too?"

Their faces flushed with anger. She was a latecomer, an unwelcome intruder who had kicked them and insulted them. She was incredibly arrogant. They stood, glaring at her. George was about to curse, but—

Bang!

Evangeline forcefully kicked the coffee table. The loud noise startled them. George's anger was momentarily suppressed.

Evangeline warned, "Know your place before you talk to me. I have something on you. Make me unhappy, and I'll spill your dirty secrets. Forget the 'we stand or fall together' nonsense. You can't control me."

George's face trembled, but he dared not insult her. Meghan clenched her fists, seething. Evangeline, my nemesis! She's ruined my reputation and wants more trouble!

"You're supposed to be in custody. Why are you here? Did you break out?" Edward asked gloomily. He knew there was no way Evangeline could have been exonerated so quickly.

Evangeline glanced at him indifferently. "Right now, you shouldn't worry about how I got out, but how to stop me from spilling your family's scandal."

Everyone's faces darkened. Edward’s promise to care for the deceased’s relative and the Gallagher family's reputation were at stake. Another scandal would be devastating.

George shouted, "You rebellious girl! I'm your father! You've harmed our family enough! Delete the evidence! Don't make it public!"

Evangeline looked at him indifferently. "Use your brain. You brought this on yourselves. If you need a scapegoat, it's Meghan. Her behavior during the livestream implicated the whole family. It's not my fault. Even without the show, she would have messed things up. She's terrible, just like the rest of you."

"You—" George gnashed his teeth, a cruel glint in his eyes. "If you refuse to delete the evidence, you won't leave here alive! You escaped from the police station. Even if you die, no one will know!"

Evangeline raised her eyebrows, smirking. "Trying to silence me? You're no match for me. I shared the video with Arthur. Even if I die, your scandal will be exposed. Go kill Arthur, too, if you dare."

George's expression shifted wildly.

Bethany trembled. "Evangeline, please delete the video. George and Meghan deserve it, but your brothers are innocent. Please, delete it for their sake!"

Evangeline looked at her, amused. "Mrs. Gallagher, are you naive or stupid? What makes you think I care about those idiots? I hate all of you equally. Don't say anything stupid again. It's disgusting."

Bethany was shocked. She staggered, closing her eyes in despair and regret. I neglected Evangeline for Meghan. Now Meghan seduced George, and Evangeline hates me. Why is my life so miserable? she thought.

Edward looked at Evangeline sullenly. "What do you want to stop you from sharing the video?" She hadn't left yet, indicating a willingness to negotiate.
