Listen to this chapter:

Thanks to an invitation from the production team, I finally saw what brainless people look like," Evangeline mocked.

Those who most disdained her were instantly furious. Evangeline looked at them and continued, "Don't be angry. I'm not personally against you, but you're all idiots. I look down on all of you equally." Everyone was stunned by her arrogance.

Those who had commented most loudly felt targeted and became enraged. "How dare you insult us, you coward!" they shouted, rushing towards her.

"Who did you call an idiot?"

"How dare such a coward be so arrogant? We'll show you our power!"

"I was going to teach you a lesson after the competition, but since you're seeking death, I'll grant your wish now! Don't trifle with us!"

The three men lunged at Evangeline, swinging their fists. She squatted, swept her leg, and they fell. She quickly stood, stepped on the left leg of one, and before he could react, kicked down the other two and stepped on their left legs as well.

"Evangeline, stop!" Smith shouted.

Ignoring him, she continued. She had always been fair; since they attacked together, they would share the same fate. The three men howled in pain, squealing like pigs.

Smith's face reddened with anger. "Evangeline, I told you to stop! You crippled them!"

Evangeline replied innocently, "When they attacked, you didn't stop them. I thought fighting was allowed before the game."

A glint flashed in Smith's eyes. "I didn't have time to react! I tried to stop it immediately after."

Evangeline shrugged. "Well, I didn't react in time either!"

Smith shouted, "You're splitting hairs!"

Evangeline smiled faintly. "How? They took thirty seconds to attack, but you only intervened after ten seconds of my stopping them. It takes longer to react and speak than to stop an action."

The other participants' views of Evangeline shifted. They hadn't expected this Clusian celebrity to be more than just a pretty face. Though the three men weren't exceptionally strong, those who passed the preliminary rounds were above average. Yet, Evangeline defeated them all.

[Holy crap! Evangeline is amazing!] [Who said Evangeline was weak? Look at her now!] [Holy shit! I love how arrogant she is! She slapped those internet trolls!]

[Even if she doesn't win, I'll always support her!] [Where are the trolls? Have you all become mites?]

[Don't be arrogant. She got lucky. Those three were unprepared, and she took advantage.] [She's the weakest contestant.] [Bullshit!] [Some people are just ugly inside.]

Smith was speechless. He had to have the three men carried away and warned the contestants against fighting before the competition. Using a loudspeaker, he explained the weapon matches: one hundred contestants, ten weapons, sign-ups required, winners take all.

The weapons—a sword, Japanese sword, boomerang, whip, hammer, axe, double-bladed axe, darts, smoke bombs, and bow and arrow—were presented. Evangeline chose the bow and arrow. Smith drew lots, and the bow and arrow team was selected first, with archery as the event.

Evangeline stepped forward, as did Jeffrey, who smiled contemptuously. Evangeline gave him the middle finger.

Smith shouted, "No fighting! Evangeline, don't provoke him!"

Evangeline said innocently, "I didn't say anything. When did I provoke him?"

Smith gritted his teeth. "You gave him the middle finger!"

Evangeline replied, "I was flexing my fingers. You're too sensitive." She put down her middle finger and flexed the others.

Everyone was speechless. Smith took a deep breath and started the match. Twenty-five contestants had signed up. The target distance was 300 feet—100 feet further than usual—and the target was a hard wooden board. More than half missed entirely. Only three hit the target, but poorly.

"Next, Jeffrey from Atharia."

Jeffrey shot confidently, hitting the bullseye. The crowd cheered.

[Jeffrey is amazing! He'll win!] [Especially against the arrogant Evangeline!]
