Chapter 1083: Love Confession
Caroline's screams pierced the night, waking others. A knock sounded on her door. "What's going on? What happened?!" someone demanded.
Caroline quickly covered her mouth, scrambling from the bed to gather the clothes scattered on the floor. She hastily dressed, tears streaming down her face. The humiliation was unbearable; hatred consumed her.
She dared not open the door, instead escaping through the window. Turning to the man, she hissed, "If you dare tell anyone, I'll kill you!"
He hastily promised, "I won't! I swear!"
Caroline climbed out the window and jumped, landing hard on the ground. Pain shot through her body, but she stifled any outcry. After adjusting her clothes, she slipped away.
Back at the inn, her agent, who had searched all night, awaited her. Seeing the bruises, the agent's face fell. "You have an award ceremony tomorrow! How will you get on stage like this?!"
"I'll be fine," Caroline replied, too terrified to confess her encounter. "I'll touch up my makeup."
"Where were you last night?" the agent pressed. "Did you go to see Theodore?"
The agent knew Caroline's intentions but remained silent, deeming it harmless. Caroline remained silent.
"Theodore is so inconsiderate," the agent muttered. "Hurry, or we'll be late."
Caroline swallowed her frustration and went to freshen up, bewildered by the night's events. Leaving the inn, she spotted Theodore preparing to leave his homestay.
"Stop the car!" she called to his driver.
Her agent, recognizing Theodore, hesitated, urging Caroline to hurry. Caroline approached Theodore, who regarded her with a darkening expression.
"Mr. Wold, last nightโฆ" she began.
"You got drunk and wanted to leave, so I let you go," he replied coldly. "Is there a problem?"
"No, it'sโฆ last nightโฆ" Caroline stammered.
"I don't like drunk women," Theodore stated bluntly.
Shame washed over Caroline. Hadn't he pressured her to drink?
"Are you leaving now?" Theodore asked.
"Yes, I have an award ceremony overseas tomorrow," Caroline forced a smile. "Are you leaving now?"
"Yes."
"Isn't Little Bunny still filming for two more days?"
"Don't mention her name," he said sharply, his face hardening.
Caroline sensed conflict between them. Before she could question him further, Theodore entered his car and slammed the door. His car sped away.
Again, his indifference left her feeling used and betrayed. Anger burned within her.
Back in the car, her agent noticed her distress but remained silent. As the car wound down a road, the agent, feeling carsick, checked entertainment news.
"Caroline! Little Bunny is in the headlines again," she said.
"What?" Caroline frowned.
"Yesterday's newsโLittle Bunny slapping youโis trending again."
This news lifted Caroline's spirits. While her plan to get closer to Theodore had failed, at least she had driven a wedge between him and Little Bunny. She suspected Theodore had leaked the news, indicating his lack of feeling for Little Bunny. Little Bunny deserved it.
"Even God can't save Little Bunny now," the agent sighed. She admitted she would have signed Little Bunny if not for this incident; she saw her talent but now could only contribute to her downfall.
Caroline left. Theodore left, too โ at Little Bunny's urging, ostensibly for Caroline's sake.
In reality, Little Bunny wanted Theodore gone; his presence disrupted filming and her accommodations. His departure would restore normalcy.
As expected, rumors swirled again about Little Bunny, but they wouldn't last. Soon, Caroline would be forgotten.
After a scene, Addison pulled Little Bunny aside. "I need to talk to you alone."
They found a secluded spot. "What's your relationship with Theodore? Did you offend him? He seems to be deliberately leaking news about you," he asked directly.
Addison, despite warnings from his manager, could no longer ignore the situation.
"It's nothing serious," Little Bunny replied.
Addison took a deep breath. "Little Bunny, why don't you quit show business? You've offended Theodore. Your career here is over. Stord is discussing replacing you!"
Before Little Bunny could respond, Addison declared, "If you quit, I'll take care of you!"
