Chapter 1087: Theodore's Invitation
When the drama concluded, it was late at night in Northfield. Little Bunny had watched the video, witnessing Caroline's online attack and subsequent distress. She put down her phone. This was a consequence of Caroline's own actions; Little Bunny felt no sympathy. It wasn't a lack of desire to confront Caroline, but rather a recognition of her inability to win. Revenge had never been Little Bunny's style.
Later, Little Bunny was exonerated, even making headlines. The incident brought her fame and attention as they returned to the capital for filming. At the capital's airport, countless fans spontaneously greeted her. Her name echoed through the crowd. Reporters also awaited her arrival.
"Miss Little Bunny, what about your relationship with Caroline?"
"Caroline claimed you were friends, but you remained silent. Why didn't you confront her?"
"Caroline accused you of much; what's your response?"
The questions overwhelmed Little Bunny, but she replied calmly, "My relationship with Caroline is private. As for what happened, the truth is pretty much what everyone saw online."
Asked for a further statement, she simply said, "Those who live by the sword die by it."
With that, Little Bunny departed under escort, leaving reporters to discover Caroline's own secret return to Northfield. Detained abroad on suspicion of illegally obtaining information related to an award ceremony, Caroline, disguised in a black hat and sunglasses, was immediately besieged by journalists. Despite her attempts to remain unnoticed, she was discovered.
"Caroline, anything to say about you and Little Bunny?"
"Little Bunny just left, leaving you a message: 'Those who live by the sword die by it.' Do you regret your actions?"
"Facing accusations of seeking confidential information, what punishment do you expect? Imprisonment?"
The crowd pressed in, but Caroline remained silent. She had witnessed Little Bunny's triumphant return, surrounded by admirers, while she herself was treated like refuse. Even abroad, she'd followed the entertainment news, seething with envy over Little Bunny's newfound fame and ubiquitous presence in the headlines.
"Shame on you! You should have died abroad!" someone yelled, throwing a rotten egg. Caroline screamed, overcome by nausea and humiliation. Her superstar image crumbled.
Little Bunny's car passed Caroline, and she observed her former rival's misery with cold indifference.
"She's oppressed us for so long! She finally got what she deserved!" Tanya exclaimed.
Little Bunny lowered her head, a message appearing on her phone. Theodore had sent an address. She wondered how he knew she'd returned to the capital, though she realized the constant cameras made it unlikely he'd tracked her specifically.
Leaning against her seat, she listened to Tanya's chatter.
"Feeling unwell?" Tanya asked.
"A little tired," Little Bunny replied.
"But you have filming tonight. Should I get the crew to reschedule?"
"No, I'm fine. Just need a few minutes' rest." Little Bunny then instructed the driver, "Sir, take me to the address I sent you."
"Certainly, Miss Little Bunny."
"Anything else?" Tanya asked.
"Uh-huh," Little Bunny responded curtly.
Tanya didn't press further.
The car arrived. Little Bunny dismissed Tanya and proceeded alone to Theodore's residence. She rang the doorbell.
The door swung open. "Six ones."
"What?"
"The password is six ones."
"Oh."
"Come in."
Little Bunny entered Theodore's spacious, luxurious homeโuncluttered, but not precisely tidy. She was surprised to find herself alone.
No servant? she wondered.
"Can you cook?" Theodore asked.
"Yes."
"I'm hungry."
"I'll get groceries." She noticed a nearby supermarket.
"They're in the refrigerator," Theodore said. "The butler delivers fresh ingredients regularly."
"You're not helping?" Little Bunny asked, heading towards the kitchen.
"Don't you know how?" he countered.
"..."
She resignedly began preparing a meal.
"Little Bunny, you'll live here from now on," Theodore declared from the sofa. It sounded like an order.
Little Bunny's hand, mid-chop, stilled. The knife nicked her finger. Though expecting some surprise, his words still startled her.
She tended her wound, then resumed cooking.
"Can I live elsewhere?" she asked.
Theodore looked sullen, assuming her silence meant agreement.
Little Bunny, sensing his mood, mustered the courage to say, "When you need me, let me know. I won't live here. Is that alright?"
