Chapter 1158: Travel (2) Sharing a Room
Theodore felt uneasy under Little Bunny's gaze. What had he done to make her so wary? Was he, perhaps, a human trafficker?
"I just wanted to help you with your luggage," Theodore explained.
Little Bunny nodded, then shifted her gaze and opened the car door. Theodore felt frustrated; she clearly didn't trust him.
He followed her to a luxurious seaside villa, its lights gleaming brightly. Even before entering, the sound of crashing waves filled the air.
"Let's go," Theodore said, carrying their luggage.
Little Bunny followed silently, observing him carry both suitcases. She hesitated to ask him to relinquish hers.
They entered the villa without speaking. The foyer featured a floor-to-ceiling window showcasing an endless sea. Stars twinkled, their reflection on the glass a dreamlike spectacle.
Little Bunny stood mesmerized, while Theodore went upstairs to leave their bags. Returning, he found her still gazing at the view. Her long, straight black hair cascaded past her shoulders, her white dress lending her an ethereal beauty.
Theodore swallowed hard. If he continued looking, he feared he might lose control.
"Are you tired?" he asked, abruptly changing the subject. "Shower or dinner first?"
"It doesn't matter."
"Then freshen up. I'll have someone bring dinner."
"Okay."
Little Bunny went upstairs. Theodore called the housekeeper. He watched television until Little Bunny returned, having unpacked her two outfits and necessities. She noticed his untouched suitcase.
After some hesitation, she unpacked and organized his belongings. Then, she showered quickly, her hunger overriding her usual lack of appetite while traveling.
Descending the stairs, she saw Theodore half-asleep on the couch. A man was preparing dinner in the kitchen.
"Good evening, Miss Little Bunny," he greeted respectfully. "I am your butler. For any requests, please call the number on your room's phone; press 1."
"Thank you."
"Dinner will be ready in ten minutes."
Little Bunny nodded and approached Theodore, who awoke at her approach.
"Dinner's almost ready," she said.
"I heard," he replied.
They sat quietly until dinner. The butler seated them.
"We're sailing tomorrow," Theodore announced.
Little Bunny, surprised, nodded.
"You don't get seasick, do you?"
"No."
"Good."
Little Bunny considered speaking, but remained silent. After dinner, they relaxed in the living room before retiring upstairs. Theodore had planned separate rooms, but seeing his unpacked luggage in her closet, he changed his mind.
"Do we sleep together?" he asked.
"Depends on you."
"I won't touch you without permission," Theodore assured her.
But Little Bunny doubted his self-control.
"I'm going to shower," she said.
Theodore anxiously awaited her response, fearing rejection. He felt a year's worth of anticipation. He showered thoroughly, three times, even sniffing himself to confirm his cleanliness before dressing in comfortable clothes.
Emerging, he found Little Bunny on the bed, looking at her phone. She glanced up but returned to her phone.
He joined her on the bed.
"I washed three times," Theodore blurted out.
Little Bunny looked surprised.
"I'm not lying," he insisted.
"Umโฆ"
"Don't think I'm dirty," he whispered.
Little Bunny suspected a misunderstanding about cleanliness.
Receiving no response, Theodore said, "I'll go to sleep."
"Okay," Little Bunny replied, turning off the light. They lay in the moonlight's glow.
Theodore rolled onto his side, facing Little Bunny, who feigned sleep. She harbored no expectations of him, knowing his true nature.
She waited, sensing no movement. Opening her eyes, she found him asleep, snoring softly. His innocent expression, unlike his usual demeanor, suggested fatigue from the journey.
In his sleep, he resembled Nicholas, although Nicholas looked more like Little Bunny. This lessened her wariness.
