Chapter 123: Don't Worry, I'm Clean!
Susan lay back on the large bed, staring at the ceiling in a daze. Feeling much better after vomiting, she still couldn't comprehend how she'd kissed Manuel. After some thought, she decided to clarify things with him, lest any misunderstandings lingered. Acting impulsively had always been Susan's way, so she headed straight to Manuel's room.
Unexpectedly, she overheard Manuel arguing with his mother. She'd never seen him lose his temper; he was always gentle. His anger surprised her. Fortunately, the argument was short-lived, and Susan left as Justine emerged. There was no need for further explanation; Manuel had inadvertently clarified the situation himself, stating that as a man, he would be impulsive if seduced. Any further clarification from Susan would seem self-righteous.
Touching her lips, Susan felt the need to brush her teeth a hundred times.
It was midnight. Hannah went downstairs for water, certainly not waiting for Oscar. He, however, misinterpreted her actions. Upon seeing her, his eyes lit up. Hannah ignored him and headed upstairs.
"Hannah, weren't you waiting for me?" He followed her, approaching her side.
Hannah frowned, impatient. Oscar reached for her cup. "How did you know I was thirsty?"
Hannah dodged his hand. "I already drank it."
"It's okay, I don't mind." He easily took the cup. A triumphant smile played on his lips.
Hannah found him childish. Watching him drink her water, she controlled her anger, took the cup, rinsed it in the kitchen, and got more warm water.
"Let me pour some water for you," Oscar insisted, remaining at her side.
"I can do it myself. It's late; go to sleep."
"I want to sleep with you," Oscar blurted out.
Hannah glared at him.
"Separate rooms," he added quickly.
Hannah remained silent, getting more water, drinking it, cleaning the cup, and returning it to its place. She started upstairs, only to be followed by Oscar. As she opened her door, he pressed her against the wall.
She struggled, but he was too strong. "To thank you for waiting so late, I intend to repay you," he smiled, an unsettling smile that ignored her resistance.
Instantly knowing his intentions, Hannah covered his mouth. He gazed at her with captivating black eyes. "Isn't it enough?" she asked.
Oscar frowned, seemingly confused. "Didn't get satisfied?" she raised an eyebrow.
He reacted, pulling her hand away. She turned her face, refusing a kiss.
Oscar chuckled. "Susan told you?"
Hannah remained silent. He'd encountered Susan earlier that evening while being pestered by Janet.
"Why didn't you come to see?"
"Am I that bored?" Hannah rolled her eyes.
"But you're jealous," Oscar insisted.
"You think too much, Master Oscar," Hannah retorted anxiously. "I just don't like being stood up."
"Huh?"
"Yesterday you said you wouldn't mess with other women, but today... Oscar, if you can't keep your promises, don't make them. Otherwise, you're shameless," Hannah's tone was sharp.
"So you care if I'm clean?"
Feeling the conversation was unproductive, Hannah replied, "I'm talking about broken promises."
"I'm clean," Oscar declared. "Hannah, rest assured."
She didn't believe him. "It's late. I'm going to bed," she said, ending the discussion. Oscar meant nothing to her; his actions were inconsequential. She would ignore him.
"Good night," Oscar released her. Sometimes he was troublesome, sometimes surprisingly easy to talk to.
Hannah entered her room and locked the door. Oscar smiled helplessly; he could see her but not touch her.
The next day, Hannah left for work before Oscar woke. He'd likely been drinking heavily. She didn't inquire. After breakfast, she drove to the company, immediately noticing everyone staring at her. Assuming something had happened, she calmly went to her office.
"Ms. Hannah," Rose said urgently.
"What's wrong?" Hannah asked, sitting down. Jimmy remained on the couch.
"Mason wants to commit suicide on the rooftop. He said you were going to kill him."
Hannah's face fell. Mason constantly tried to upset her.
"Ms. Hannah, should we go? Several senior leaders are trying to comfort him."
"Not now," Hannah replied.
"But..."
"Assess the situation and contact me."
"Okay," Rose agreed, having faith in Hannah's ability to handle the situation.
